what do u mean manually setting the PL1 ??
i had try to reset cmos also, after reset cmos my processor at least will maintence 4.2ghz while idle also.

how about your bios setting since you also using msi motherboard right?

ultimate performance should run the CPU at max speed even when idling, I used it when I hated to see my cpu drops down in ghz lol

idle temp : 46-50C
gaming 65-71C

If i try to run cinebench or other benchmark application my cpu can hit up to 95-100C for like 5 sec then it will throttle down speed. After throttle it will steady around 70-72C max at 3.1ghz won't go higher than that. Currently score about 9.8k cinebench r23 score. Won't go higher than that.

Already tried reapplying the thermal paste and resit the stock cooler so its not about the cooler not properly fixed. Still trying to figure out whats the issue.

Intel stock cooler is crap these days. You have to upgrade it if you want better temps.

intel stock cooler is crap since more than a decade ago, Wraith Prism stock cooler from AMD ryzen 3700x-3900x is the best stock cooler so far .

What are the temps these DJR running at 1.6v? I dont quite know what's the tolerance so I those pointer thermometer only. mine is 1.48V on 45C with no airflow.. dare not crank it any higher.

I think it’s your power plan settings as mentioned by edmund. You need to use balanced for your cpu to drop down to 800mhz during idle to save power... or unless you want your cpu to stay at 4.6ghz all the time.

Then... I guess it's micron revB that's easier to tune than DJR, not SR and DR.
My micron rev B tends to pass training and boot easily but memtest86 stability is another matter. DJR very sensitive but memtest86 stability usually quite on point.

Regardless, 3866c18-22-22-42 CR1 micron.B SR vs 4000c18-22-22-42 CR2 DJR DR, up to 40fps gain in F1 2020 1080p high. It's a pretty huge gain already
