QUOTE(ketupatlazat @ Oct 15 2021, 07:04 PM) buy an EV for city use can laaa. easy to plug in at home and charge overnight https://www.malaysianow.com/news/2021/05/13...wn-memory-lane/but it wanna balik kampung or travelling that covers 400km or more in distance, the convenience of ICE still far outweighs EV It may matter less and less, as many will eventually not have a kampung to go back to. QUOTE Socar and TNB will set up 50 EV zones and charging stations in Malaysia by end of 2022 This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Oct 16 2021, 08:26 AMBY Redza Dzafri6 October 20216:02 pmComment Socar is a local car-sharing service that just partnered with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Malaysia. They plan to do this by setting up 50 EV zones in Malaysia by the end of 2022. These Socar zones will be set up “nearby or right next to EV charging stations”, according to Socar Mobility Malaysia CEO Leon Foong. They will also be suited to fit the location they are in. For example, cars in Cyberjaya were found to have a higher average mileage than cars from the city centre, so Cyberjaya zones will have a DC charger and vehicles that fit the higher mileage. The goal for this project is to convince the public that EVs are both fun and viable for Malaysia. Socar plans to get rid of the ‘range anxiety’ by setting up adequate zones and charging stations to support the use of EVs. Socar also believes that the cost of owning an EV is lower than owning an internal combustion-engined vehicle, and they plan to prove it by running this operation and observing the data. Socar Mobility Malaysia CEO Leon Foong. Source: Socar “For the people investing in vehicle charging infrastructure – can they actually generate returns on investment from the capital expenditure they have laid out? These are the two key goals in our partnership with Tenaga Nasional, and 2022 will be a big year in finding the answers to these questions,” Foong explained. After 2022, Socar also plans to expand their number of EV zones in 2023 and 2024, and will use the initial 50 zones as a learning process for future additions. |

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/202...ic-cars-by-2035
Battery electric vehicles currently make up less than 1% of cars in Thailand, data from the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand show. But while the Thai EV market is still small, it showed “great resilience” last year despite the pandemic denting overall auto sales, according to BloombergNEF analyst Allen Tom Abraham. EV car sales increased 1.4% in 2020, while regular auto sales slumped 26%. Target 4% by 2022 30% by 2025 50% by 2030 100% by 2035 Now if your neighbor is going do that, can Malaysia do much less, can we afford to? |

QUOTE Budget 2022: Auto sector expects initiatives to strengthen EV, green mobility ecosystems Bernama October 19, 2021 11:08 am +08 -A+A KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Automotive players expect initiatives to strengthen the local electric vehicle (EV) industry and green technology ecosystems to be announced in the upcoming Budget 2022. This is in progression with the national aspiration of low carbon mobility objectives and green mobility agenda as spelt out in the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP) unveiled last month. Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) managing director Erik Winter said the group is encouraged by the government’s ambition as envisaged in the 12MP to enhance electro mobility (e-mobility). "Malaysia should not lose out on the opportunities that EVs can bring, so we hope the government will allocate funding in Budget 2022 in developing an e-mobility road map for Malaysia. "We need to look into creating a holistic EV ecosystem, expanding proper infrastructure, introducing tax incentives for both businesses and customers, and more. We at VPCM are always ready to support the government with industry insights and knowledge wherever needed," he told Bernama. Winter said the government’s ambition in the 12MP to enhance e-mobility is a crucial step for the country to become a low-carbon nation, and that the shift is already happening globally where EVs are quickly becoming the norm. https://www.wapcar.my/news/electric-vw-mode...ev-policy-30827 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Oct 20 2021, 08:38 AM |

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Oct 31 2021, 09:36 AM) Yes, you are totally right. Cheapest models with practical and realistic range are all with 80kwh battery. Give and take 10% variations, min 72kwh. Those are in RM300k price rangeTheir range are very close = rated about 400km with WLTP. Which in practice can do 300km+ on pure highway driving 110km/h. City driving would be 500km+, and inching toward 600km if no heavy traffic city drive. In heavy bumper-to-bumper crawl, expect 50% = 200km range. Realistic is those are all 300k offering from BMW, Volvo etc. Porsche are more expensive, base Taycan would be still 350k without tax, and before adding any options. Expect add another 70-80k options. The China city EV all have bloated range that is not achievable. 40kwh claim NEDC 400km+ range, less than 60kwh put 500km+ range. All the fishy, off the chart number that is almost 2x more than industrial average. For comparison 2022 Nissa Leaf with 40kwh battery is rated 225km WLTP. So that's the credibility of the China EV range. In mixed usage expect only half of what they advertised. 400km -> 200km. No one can defy physics. 🤐 it is sad many people deceived by the non achievable numbers, they will regret. In the recent China Golden week holiday traffic jam, the Great Wall Good Cat EV only did100km range. So during jam it is 400km -> 100km. The owner was so upset. Really want to buy, prepare RM300k budget. Want cheap China EV, reality check whatever range they told you, take 50% for mix usage. Even with no airbags, at least the A pillar should be intact. This one A pillar totally deformed. It is questionable if they actually build a safe chassis, even if they offer 7 airbags. With this credibility, I have 0 trust in any offering from this company. This post has been edited by constant_weight: Oct 31 2021, 05:25 PM |

EV leh? 2years later from 300km become 200km? like tat sure can use or not? degrade further with malaysia heat and humidity. All got count in ma? those who drove hybrid before, prius c la, or prius la, or honda hybrid, all say after few years the battery life so much lower, but honda say this is wear and tear to u in the beginning. the warranty only for if batt kong or cannot use. honorable but much improvement needed. Now EV is just u guys rich guys punya toys. rm100k only can drive at pasar, who can afford when most malaysia M40 and B40 can only afford 1 car per family? QUOTE(BigMan123 @ Oct 31 2021, 04:52 PM) But I suspect those with PHEV don't really give a f*ck about RV.I think the same applies for BEV prospective owners. Wouldn't second (hand) value be possibly worse for ICE cars too? This post has been edited by EnergyAnalyst: Oct 31 2021, 10:23 PM |
