Hi.
I do not have any personal prior experience in investing and trading.
I have seen family members and friends who invest in Unit Trust, and also using financial brokerage services (remisier) from bank such as RHB Trade Smart. I am confused because there are too many info out there, and for a starter like me, most information are misleading for a newbie.
My questions:
(1) What is the difference between stock screener (KLSE screener etc.), compared to Platform like Robinhood, etoro, TD Ameritrade? Are they of the same purposes? What are the differences of all these platforms compared to RHB Trade Smart and other brokerage services offered by Investment Banks and othe FIs? Is 'WITH a remisier VS WITHOUT a remisier' one of the differences? So how do professional full-time traders trade if they don't use services from investment banks? Which platform do they use?
(2) There are some Academy out there offering financial education for investment, trading, and stuff. Are they worth the money? I think these Academy, besides education, also function like other Trading Platform. However, I guess we can't open CDS account with such Academy, can we?
Below is the link to one of the Academy I've found on Facebook
iSaham Contract Value(Contribution) Calculator
Because not all stock screener I've found online has this features of Contract value calculator, how is the contract value computed actually?
Besides, there is also well known Academy known as Timing&You. How do traders actually utilize these Academies? Is there any beginner course from (e.g. BURSA academy) which actually offers courses with a systematic progression, tailored for the beginner level and intermediate level?
(3) How do I start performing Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis? Is there any platform that is beginner-friendly to start practicing FA and TA?
Let's assume a starter wants to invest in ETFs , then he'll need to do FA and TA, right? But as a non-finance professional, the starter won't be accessing Bloomberg Terminal or Eikon Datastream which requires expensive subscription fess, and the starter also don't have the expertise to do so.
Hence, how can this average starter approach FA and TA? For TA, can starter start with charting tool like TradingView, or there is other tools that are relatively easier to pick up?
As mentioned above, iSaham has those calculator features. Then, does signing up with one of those academy opens up my journey to start performing Fundamental Analysis(FA)? If not, do platforms like TD Ameritrade and Robinhood have the features for investors to perform FA and TA
There is also website like i3investor, which is more like a forum. Do people actually perform FA and TA via i3investor?
*about to graduate from uni, and I don't see how my bachelor's degree has prepared me for all this. Does attaining professional qualification like CFA or FRM exam certification give a person the license to be a remisier or a full-time trader?
HELP newbie: Bank/Trading Platform/Stock Screener?, Investment Banks/Trad. Pltfrm etc.
