I suppose 20 models screen problems is likely due to LCM controller or display ribbon cable failure due to prolonged overheating (exynos might be one of factor, but don't forget others like climate/environment, battery charging etc)

Possibly also the reason why samsung purposely want throttle the performance of newer phones with bs GOS bloatware

Edited to clarify more about the issue

Off topic a bit: my s10 lite (also 2020 model) also suffered from similar screen flickering/BSOD failure within months and I had to sent it for warranty on early 2021. Until now still fine the screen. However some 20 users ran out of luck due to screen failure AFTER normal warranty expired (samsung may know this so for next time preorder give care plus warranty package bundle with preorder freebies like 22 series now)

if you want to know the root cause of GSOD/screen green/pink lines, here is it

basically is due to QC issues on the display controller/ribbon part. the connection become loose over time due to subpar adhesive that bond the display controller/ribbon to the display panel itself. the prolonged overheating due to several causes including prolonged gaming, very high brightness when used outdoors (in some cases including using it as car navigation on car holder), and other factors can cause the adhesive to loose quicker

the exynos 990 tends to run hot so that's why exynos version has much higher risk of screen failure compared to snapdragon

According to this source, the only way to get GSOD is either:
1) Drop the phone (Unintentionally)
2) Use it everytime when it is warm
3) Bought a used set (and having been going through 1 and 2)
4) Have early versions of the phone (There is revision to the circuit boards and other parts of the phone. This is also the reason why I never buy the first or second batch of the phones, Ex: If the phone is lauched in Febraury, first batch: preorder set, second batch: March-May sets))

Resoucre

But S21 series according to reddit, they get more BSOD (black screen) instead of GSOD
*
GSOD, BSOD can happen literally to anyone if unlucky as long as using samsung oled phones

Plus Vietnam samseng QC very hampeh

GSOD, BSOD, usually due to screen ribbon cable loosen due to long tern overheating (for more details click show this member only on computer to see)

I read that it is caused by the latest update. Could you be kind enough to guide how can I restore back tobthe previous version - before the latest update?

My phone is a s20+
*
Most of the time is just coincidence, display ribbon failure can be happening anytime, maybe firmware update produce so much heat enough for ribbon to loosen

my phone screen is having some faint flicker if the page displayed have a lot of white. and then the display looks like i turn on the eye comfort shield in settings.

anyone have experienced this before?

Regular, plus or ultra?

Depending on the varient, screen replacement is around 900-1000+ without labor

Trust me, this situation will become worse quickly until screen completely cannot on. Backup your data as soon as possible before planning about screen or phone replacement

Another green line appeared last week. I went to Samsung Service center.  They quoted Rm850 for the display replacement since my S20+ is 13months old. I complaint to them. I said many people get 50% discount on that. They need to email "Samsung higher ups" to get the approval. Need to leave my hp for their tech to check. Next day the "higher ups" called me and only offer 15% off. I not agreed and saying this obviously is Samsung s20series major issue. So he said will call me.back again for better offer. Long story short, next day they offer 50% off so i gotta agreed. Total paid Rm463( include 38 labour cost). 3 months warranty. Phone valued ard rm1k now. My chellenge now is sell off/trade in the phone within 3 mths. Not sure what phone should i get now. S21PLUS? FE or iphone12?

welcome to iphone (just in case)

or try realme/xiaome? given samseng QC is just not better and probably better off with these chinese makes

After getting a few replies from different SA from Samsung Mal, one of the SA confirmed; and, it seems that S20FE 5G is not yet approved by MCMC for 5G usage.  ranting.gif
So, for those who want to work related with 5G need to avoid this model for now until further confirmation.

#5G_is_fake because must get "blessing" from mcmc to use 5g. DNB by tengku zaiful aziz like left right hand gov crony

Just buy the snapdragon samsung next year hahahaha laugh.gif rclxms.gif

Imo don't buy samsung unless samsung can get their ribbon cable qc right

Ribbon cable qc poor > screen flicker, green tint, whiteout, green/pink line(s), screen eventually dead, warranty if lucky, if unlucky gg wallet

Get iphone, more peace of mind although their oled also got chance to fail as well

Other makers also oled screen start failing like oneplus 8 series and those same period with s20 too

Conclusion, ultimate way is go IPS LCD . The best screen around just phone makers got tricked by samseng oled

Why i say snapdragon is not absolutely safe

Many cases of screen failing as well in china, hong kong, taiwan, us etc, those market are snapdragon version, you can go see reddit, mobile01 or respective social media/forum see

Is this screen failure something new? I asked because my wife's Note3 and Note8 don't hv this screen problem. She's still using the latter.
*
Note 9 when this problem exactly start widespread after 1 or 2 years, gg need fork out 900 or so to replace

But this problem also can happen to s7edge, s9 etc although rarely happened

I see. No wonder.

After replacing, is the IP68 rating still intact?
*
Ip68 thing is no guarantee anymore

Also s20 series another problem, back side glue no more stick, cause back side become loose, in this case ip68 is completely out of the table

I plan on getting a S20 5g (2 sim) set from Shopee to replace my current S10e

Link : https://shopee.com.my/estation_933/5043416624

Can anyone confirm whether :

1) Does it still get OTA Android and security updates?

2) Does the dual sim function work for other countries like NZ & Australia?

3) Are there any common issues with Imported model?

Thank you all!  notworthy.gif
*
1. Yes, but slower compared to malaysian set

2. Yes

3. idk whether oled issues will be on imported model, maybe relatively rare but still got chance

So far A series has these 'lines' issue a lot.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

They claimed that it caused by the update thingy. No idea which update causes that.

S series never had such issue?

Recently saw OPPO reno 5 pro having similar issue.

Made me worry to buy Samsung phones.

Any oled paned that is flexible (using COP, chip on plastic for thinner bottom bezel) is vulnerable to light saber issue
