QUOTE(x3Number1x @ Jun 25 2021, 11:12 AM) thts pretty good deal, how did u get that offer? i dont see this pricing at official samsung website. That offer is from the edu store + some galaxy week promo, as I was scrolling through this thread, I noticed someone mentioned something about an edu store. Since I am still a uni student, maybe I can benefit from my uni email. But, I am still a little bit hesitant because I saw quite alot of users complaining about the weak mobile date signal. |

QUOTE(kimjs90 @ Jun 25 2021, 02:48 PM) By right i can say depends on coverage and telco use la...but its a noticeable that samsung phone has weaker signal compare to huawei (this from my experienced) do you feel that the difference in signal strength has any affect on the 4g speeds between your two phones? malaysian variant of S21+ has the exynos SoC, not sure it's signal reception is still as bad as the previous exynos-es This post has been edited by jvilous: Jun 25 2021, 05:14 PM |

QUOTE(FlamingFox @ Jun 25 2021, 11:35 PM) Well it happens quite rarely but there was a time I could not even load MySejahtera and it was a very unpleasant experience. Then other times, my YouTube videos will just hang on my other device (I use my phone as a hotspot). It wasn't like this at all when I was using a Huawei. This sounds kind of bad, are you using the SD or exynos variant of the S21? QUOTE(kimjs90 @ Jun 26 2021, 12:17 AM) P20... the performance on this phone is starting to get on my nerves, that's one of the reasons I am considering the S21+ |

I just got my S21+ yesterday, I feel that something is weird with my camera.
When I open the camera, there is a slight lagginess when I move the phone around. The camera display does not seem to be in sync with what is in real life. Besides that, the display quality is quite poor as compared to the pictures taken, which is so much better. I was wondering, is there anything wrong with my unit? Should I be worried... |

QUOTE(kimjs90 @ Jun 30 2021, 06:12 PM) Yup, it is better than yesterday now. A few complaints about this phone though. 1) The phone heats up quite abit even with light usage, maybe there is a lot of background processes running when the phone is new? 2) The mobile data signal really is as bad as some forummer who mentioned it in this thread... I am only getting 2 or 3 bars in my home, whereas I could get full bar easily with my P20 3) I kinda miss notification lights, that's my preference coming from P20 though 4) Why is the notification sound so loud!! Every time someone messages me, I feel like the whole office can hear my notification. I have lowered the notification volume as low as it is allowed already 5) Why does long pressing the power button activates bixby!!! I had to google how to turn off my phone... Other than these few nitpicks, I have to say this phone is amazing. The experience is like switching to a ferrari after driving a myvi for a long time, if this metaphor made any sense LOL. Smooth. Period. |

QUOTE(fkinmeng @ Jun 30 2021, 10:34 PM) I can't comment about the call volume and quality since so far I haven received or called anyone yet. As for the speakers, I was blown away at how amazing the speakers sound. Stereo speakers. These speakers are able to produce a wide range of sounds, you can hear some subtle sounds when you play music through the speakers. |

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jul 1 2021, 06:54 AM) My wife just got the S21 (non plus non ultra) few weeks back, transition from her P20 Pro, so i can comment on these two:- Yeah the signal is definitely weaker, previously when I was using my P20 in the toilet, everything is okay, but S21+, it lags just a little bit. The weak signal is definitely noticeable. 2) Mobile data signal in terms of bars is definitely poorer, but the flip side of it is that the actual experience of usage (spotify not cutting off) when on the road seems better with the S21. P20 Pro used to give her problems in a particular stretch of the road in my neighbourhood where it would just stop playing, S21 no such problem so far. Don't think the bars displayed are a reliable measure, I guess. 5) This can be changed! No specific guide sorry, but my wife was playing around and managed to find the setting to change it. You can change it back to long-press for power menu. Yup, I did change it thanks to the help of @kimjs90 and @mafioso. Imagine if a boomer who is not a tech savvy person, trying to power off their phone, but instead activating bixby lol.... QUOTE(kimjs90 @ Jul 1 2021, 12:53 PM) To disable bixby on power button go into Settings > Advance Features > Side Key, u can disable bixby and change it back to normal power key...the reason is last time samsung put dedicated bixby key on s10 series, start from note10 onwards they remove it hence embedded in power button Thanks bro!!QUOTE(joeblow @ Jul 1 2021, 02:06 PM) LOL I came from p20 pro and wrote earlier in this thread about the problem you faced. One more issue you might come across is when you take calls via phone to ear. Volume is very soft! Got a method I posted earlier to bypass but makes everything louder so I removed. Yup, even with these problems, the phone is far more superior than the P20 seriesDespite all these small issues plus phone takes quite long to restart, this phone is very stable. More stable than p20 pro. But of course I hardly use the camera. Gets heated up very fast like the ex Sony I had. QUOTE(aaron80 @ Jul 1 2021, 03:34 PM) me too, miss the notification lights and also the iris unlock in my note 8 I found maybe a solution for the notification lights? Maybe you can try downloading an app called aodNotify. It makes the surrounding of your front facing camera glow with there is a notification, simulating a notification light. I have used the app for around 3 days though, I find it to be slightly buggy, but hey, at least it is a temporary solution hahamaybe due to they removed the bixby button so use the power button for this purpose, its function can change in the setting QUOTE(mafioso @ Jul 1 2021, 02:28 PM) Yeah, I adjusted as long as it possibly could go, it is still loud. So instead I downloaded some notification sounds that are softer from Zedge. Seems to work, but it is still a little loud as compared to P20. Maybe the speaker of S21+ is too good lol...QUOTE(GHOSTVIC @ Jul 1 2021, 12:22 PM) After JUN update the potrait mode even look.worst I faced the same situation with you, the portrait mode is laggy and blurry on phone screen, so annoying...The previous quality far way better. Now when turn on camera in potrait mode the display not sharp or clear.. can see some noise. Once snap it will render to potrait mode..But still something miss. Previously before update wasnt like this.. U turn on camera in potrait mode the display sharp clear. Once snap it will render and makes the background blur. I clearly can see difference and compare my prevs pictures and now. 90% of my prior jun update pics are potrait mode so i can spot the difference. It is not similar. Personally i feel current update never improve anything just made it worst.. Im resetting the camera app and clear cache but i so frustrated to open the camera app again for shots and videos This post has been edited by jvilous: Jul 3 2021, 01:17 PM |

A little review about the cameras, I'll just say what's on my mind since I'm not a professional photographer lol...
Overall the cameras are good, I feel that Samsung has toned down on the oversaturation on their image processing, the photos taken looks much more true to life with a slight oomph. Their image processing on skin tone is what I like too, basically 0 smoothing on the face when the beauty mode is turned off, the pictures taken of human faces looks natural unlike those of Chinese phones But not every camera system is perfect though. I managed to get some shots that has some green tint on it. Is there any way to fix it? I really love to take pictures on the telephoto lens as the lens most similarly represents of what I see in real life, but unfortunately most of the photos taken with the telephoto lens has been 50/50... The photos I took on the telephoto lens sometimes look clear and sharp, but on the other days, it looks grainy and blurry. Maybe it is a problem with the focusing? The portrait mode has been hit or miss too, I think the edge detection on some tricky subjects such as fluffy hair is quite weak... Here are some of the examples I have mentioned. Large image ahead lol, open with caution » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by jvilous: Jul 3 2021, 12:33 PM |
