Just typed out something quite long in the MYM page might as well post it here for all to read :
As S1rro said , the seedings are discussed and done based on past Pride performances. Although the seedings may not reflect their current skill level and sharpness its still considered "fine" in my opinion. All 8 seeded teams reached the last 16 playoffs at Pride 6 of which 6 of them reached the Last 8. The remaining 2 won all their prior group stage matches which is no short of an amazing feat. Some members of the community may think that we made a mistake , but I honestly think that even there is a mistake , the mistake is not significant based on the reasoning I gave above. A glaring missing from the list of seeded teams are the USA teams. In my opinion , America Dota has lost its last "legendary" clan following x6's disband. The new "top 3" of Hi2u , Emg and Excello have not proven themselves worthy of a seed this time around. Last Pride , Hi2u ff all games despite being seeded , Emg (formerlly known as Verge) went missing after losing to ROFL and Excello (formerly known as Ene) was not given the chance to fully exert their skills and talents due to a series of unfortunate events that happened last time around. With good players being added into their rosters , on paper , they will not have a problem in stamping their authority on the scene. But they will have to work their way up from the America qualifiers. World Eaters and Team Q not getting the seed may turn out to be a collective mistake from our part , but with the talent they have in their team , getting through the West Europe and Africa qualifiers may not be problem. With 4 East Europe teams getting the top 8 seed , it will be interesting to see which new teams from that part of the world will show off their skills this time around. A good candidate to watch out for is Hard Team which recently finished second at the ASUS Cup Dota Tournament behind Virtus.Pro and ahead of sP[Palit]. The "no name" as quoted by Yoda I assume will be referring to Cybertime ROA the recent first runner up of Asian WCG Dota. Their spectacular run last Pride was a combination of extreme sacrifice (starting games at 2 am for 50% of the time) , skill (beating SK in a group stage match) and luck (managed to get a host that does not lag more than 1 second most of the time). Seeding them is the best recognition for their efforts last time around. Inspired by their success , a host of top names from Asia are joining this time around. I counted 5 country representatives of ACG registering. Xcn (Indonesia) , TKS (Australia) , StarsVD(Vietnam) , MCC (New Zealand) and Mizencrononith (Singapore , mix team of Zenith and Micronology). There is also Papi , the team that effectively disbanded HIRA the Pride 4 champions and their first local rival Mineski from Philippines gracing the Asian Qualifiers. Cybertime-ROA's fierce local rivals in Malaysia are also in the party. Sadistic Kaiser , mKvL and ROA's sister clan Cybertime-O are also in the fray. The victor of matches between this 4 teams are mostly decided by a few mistakes. It goes without saying all Asian teams will hope to emulate Cybertime's success at last Pride this time around. All this make up for an interesting Asian Qualfiers. Hm , an explanation of the seedings becomes a preview of the qualifiers lol. Well anyway , good luck to all teams participating and thank you all for your participation. I am looking forward to work with you all to take Competitive Dota to the next level. |
