Agree, last time dad's hyundai is the switch that went bad. Can pull up to engage the handbrake, but cannot press down to disengage the handbrake, only way to disengage is to shift it into gear then it auto disengage.

But one device is badly needed for malaysian drivers : a mind-reading gadget that can turn on the appropriate signal light early enough.

Same as Peugeot 3008. The electronic handbrake will fail if the ABS sensor is faulty. There are 4 sensors. Mine failed one by one over the past 7 years. Each sensor is RM 250.

Best part? Mech said to replace in pairs. I did once and both failed at the same time. Now I only replaced 1 sensor and opt to clean the another sensor with engine degreaser. Sometimes ok and sometimes not.
