It was on the news today. This maybe the reason for the recent upgrade by TM Net, in preparation for IPTV launch together with Media Prima.

Paul Moss said it's so you can watch their shows at your convenience.

Unless there're some new contents, I don't see any reason to join that considering u can just see those channels free on your TV.

IPTV is nice but IIRC.. it uses P2P technology as well to run the streams. Correct me if i am wrong.

The only way to overcome this is their server needs to be able to handle so much load from streaming. If it can't cope with it, more screams can be heard from Malaysia.

Well , they are smart for somethings . More Reason to watch Them .

i guest we can watch back the mega movie that we misses ....

it is not about the load . The Broadband Can Handle Those Load . But ? The Lowest Pakej Can Already Do The Job , Y Paid More For Those Speed That I Dont Need ? <---- Malaysian Thinking .

If those Lowest Pakej Can Already DO THE JOB Then Where ProFit Comes IN ?? Make Them Slower , So They Will Pay For Higher Speed . <----- BroadBand Thinking (still a Malaysian )

U cant complain slow . They will tell u to get more faster Line . Pay more for it ....... That make us Malaysian . XD

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. Who would want to pay RM15 to watch TV that's too boring to be worth watching when it's free?

They should be paying us to watch them, to increase the viewership and bump up their ad revenues.

There a lot of book worms marketers in Malaysia accept the facts. RM15 for free TV is the most stupid idea they can think of.

I was expecting it to be free. RM15 is more worth if the channels are from Astro such as ESPN, NGC etc.

what's the benefits of offering this service ?
who are the targeted market ? ppl with no tv but a computer ? heck, whats the rate of pc to tv penetration in the country ?!?!?!?!
its just to make msia "up to date" with the introduction of such services i think.

internet is some how monopolised by telekom in msia, you can't get cheaper than what telekom offers, you cant get more coverage than telekom offers, but they compromise ur speed, what can u do ? dun like then dun use telekom, this is what they will tell you.

comparing to the uk, 2Mb for a mere 20 pounds, if u earn in pounds, you pay bout 1% of ur salary, and there are so many competition, driving the push for reliable and fast speed.
(fair use applicable - if u dl more than few gb in peak hrs ur speed will be "adjusted", off peak = no limit)

well imagine they have millions of msian using the streaming tv, without improvement of service, then what ?
lag the entire nation's tv ? oh you are watching too much tv and too often, we will cut down ur speed,
hahahaha

i just came back from my broadband conference at MECC about the broadband in malaysia and IPTV is been discus there.. IPTV is in the the project to give at least 2mb/s to home user internet connection in klang valley in lower price cos the target to get 50% household using broadband.. so this is the first step for the broadband provider to improve the connection and content locally. but we to pay rm15 is not a good start.

we want to be like taipei and hongkong (malaysia target in broadband content) but the probaly will get to feel this improvement only at klang valley in 3 years maybe..

I don't think this is going to work.
Who wants to watch local channels anyway? (excluding from Astro)
Asking someone to pay RM15 per month is a joke.

You could have watch it for free on normal television without paying the RM15 and the internet fees.

Who wants to watch Astro either? A load of crap.

Was just in the middle east; even the cheapest roach-filled hotel in Jordan and Syria has 600+ channels (and nowhere near as much censorship). Malaysia really suffers when it comes to TV.
