Hi guys,

How are you? I have some EF lenses and looking forward to EOS R mount in the future. Thus now doing some homework.

Here some questions about EF to R mount adapter that I fail to find the info from google and need actual users experiences.. Hope you can take your time to answer.

(1) Will the EF to R mount causing lost in infinity focus with shorter lenses? From the adapter photo, I saw it has no optical elements inside and technically add distance between lenses and camera sensor. If not sure. Let me know which lenses you tested and still can focus to infinity or at least 30 meters away (like in play ground etc).

(2) There are 3 types of Canon original adapter. The one I not sure if about the ring control. What can it control? Did you use it? Or not useful? Price differences?

(3) I saw online price for the Canon original adapter is expensive. The plain adapter costing about RM600. If it has no special function, affordable compatible one should be ok as well right?

(4) Appreciate all other actual experiences information~

I used with EF / EF-S lens, no focus issue so far.
In fact, it is more easy to focus if compared ESO R body with DSLR body.
Because the focus is direct via sensor (live view) as compared to DSLR.

If you are buying EOS R body from Canon Malaysia, it will c/w EF to R adapter.
It is the most basic adapter without control ring or drop in filter type.
Price for basic adapter is around RM400+- in retail shop.
Not worth to get control ring or drop filter adapter because it cost over 1k.

Thanks for the valuable feedback. Filter type adapter surely useless for me..

Anyone has any idea on how control ring adapter can benefit? Using it for? Control aperture? ISO? the same thing already can control on camera body right?

You can read on the product description below about control ring adapter.
Personally, I feel the ring is deep inside of the adapter which doesn't convenient to use.

(1) will not happen about it, haven't experience it before

(2) focusing ring give you option to customize certain setting you want such as change ISO / Aperture / White Balance by just by turning the ring. I don't have one but my fre have it and he love it

(3) Ya is expensive but not recommend use 3rd party adapter to minimize the risk getting error during work

(4) with adapter + EF lens on it, you will feel handling much front heavier (if you more on photography), advice buy the original canon battery grip or buy 3rd party metal extension grip

Actually gear equipment are helping user much more easier (convenience) photo shoot & video shoot (depending on camera & lens combination), especially in working environment.
If majority of your time are hobby, either DSLR or mirrorless system work fine, not recommended spend extra $$$ for new gears.
