My three kids actually stick with their music lessons all these years (eldest is still going after 7 years), so I think it's about time to upgrade their instrument.

They are using a 30 years old hand-me-down upright piano from my sister (weird brand name I can't even find on the net). Technician fixed the regulations (I don't know what it means BTW) 7 years ago when my eldest started using it, but during most recent tuning the technician recommended me getting another piano.

My budget is around Rm40k. I did a bit of searching on the net. I like the idea of a new baby grand piano.

This is what I gather so far:
Hailun HG 150se (wagner music)
Weber W150 (yc music)
Ritmuller (which model?) (Bentley music)
Yamaha GB1K (yamaha music everywhere) / Kawai GL10 (where?) (both seems expensive?)

I am a noob in piano. Appreciate any feedback from all of you.
My plan is to bring my kids to try these out after MCO over.
Thanks.

I'm not really an expert in grand piano or baby but I noticed Yamaha baby grands pedals work differently than traditional pedals especially the middle sostenuto pedal.

On grands the sostenuto is supposed to sustain selected notes being pressed while keeping the non selected ones unsustained.

But Yamahas I find that big or small, a different model from disklavier or gb gc idk they all have this weird "Bass sustain" pedal. Whether it is useful or not I don't know because I haven't reached that kind of level yet. And playing church songs or pop songs in general probably won't use much of those advanced things.

If you're searching for a piano, this is something I would consider looking into it. The middle sostenuto pedal. You may choose the bass sustain pedal no worry but I believe those who wanna master advanced songs like romantic period or something will probably need that pedal.

But final thoughts, piano must feel good to your fingers and not pedal. The pedal is something I'd keep in mind because I wanted to try out that pedal but realize my church baby grand works differently haha.

Hope MCO over asap and everyone is safe to go out without restrictions

Is your church using a Yamaha baby grand?

Yup. I can't remember the specific model but it's a Yamaha baby grand. And that's how I found out the non-standard pedal. mega_shok.gif
