The seller, to close the position, they need to buy the stock.
Can't buy stock can't close position. And they desperately need to close the position, one thing that can beat the system is they continue shorting it above 200%. It normally doesn't work that way, infact one can never short above 100%, it doesn't make sense. I'm not familiar with the rules, but if they can short above 100% short above 200% maybe possible for them? Who know. If it is doable then it will depend on who is more United and have balls of steel. Also they need to pay interest on the short. Not easy exit for hedge fund giant.

Oh yeah, company can issue new stock. If they want to. The risk is there. But again those are the guy trying to make the company owner bankrupt few months ago by shorting the shares. Maybe one will see profit first before emotion.
