Hi everyone! I'm planning to adopt a kitten soon, want to ask some advice:

1. I have a 4-year-old dog, he generally ignores other animals (timid, he prefers hooman). How do I introduce the new kitty to the household so they get along well?

2. Any kitten food brand to recommend (preferably kibbles)? The kitten will be 100% indoor so would like to choose brand that produce less smelly poop. Kitten is currently on wet food + kibbles.

Thank you in advance!

1. Close monitoring, gradual introduction. Depends on your doggo personality.

2. go to Cat Supermarket, try multiple brand, find one that the kitten like / prefer and less smelly poop. Different cat - different poop  sweat.gif  As for me, I use Royal Canine. Pricey but the less poop smell.

Thanks will check Royal Canin

yup, been feeding royal canin hair and skin for a year and a half now

thinking to change

a shop near me sold a tester package for TOTW, bought it to test with my cats

they were a bit hesitant a first to eat, but at night they seem to be eating it well

going to give them more for these next few days, if they like, will buy the TOTW 7kg
*
My cat is still on RC Kitten, and planning to switch to RC Hair & Skin soon. Was thinking whether to switch to TOTW since there's so many good review.
Did you notice any difference on the fur between feeding RC Hair & Skin vs TOTW? Also which one which make their weight gain faster? p.s. My vet says my cat is getting fat lol.

Recently my cat (1 year+) refused to finish the food in her bowl, sometimes not eating at all in the evening. I'm feeding her RC Hair & Skin, followed the feeding amount for her weight.

She's game for (expensive) cat treats and rejects cheaper snacks though.

Should I be concerned that she's not getting enough nutrients, but she's still plump....

confirm over fed.
cat needs way less commercial food than those recommended on the packaging guideline.

i feed the ~4kg + male cat a total of 30g of dry kibbles only per day.

30g in 3 meals a day, if u weight u will know the amount brapa kecik.. lol

40g still can gain some weight..
*
We use a weighing spoon to scoop her kibbles. My cat is also 4kg +-. Maybe need reduce meals, at least won't waste the kibbles to go soggy.

You all got feed supplement for your cats? Can recommend anything good? My cat generally have soft full fur, but her nose is always dirty that requires daily wipes.

I just saved a little kitten in my house compound.
His mother abandoned him, so I brought him into home and setup a corner for him to stay, using cardboard and boxes to surround.
He has been with me for 2-3 weeks.

The problem is now I put litterbox, he doesn't want to use.
He still pass on top of cardbox like usual.
I've already caught him and put in litterbox, but no point.
How to train kittens to use litterbox?
*
Can try put pieces of soiled cardboard inside the litterbox?
Also, the kitten will poop soon after meal, maybe observe when he's sniffing around after meal and hurriedly put him to litterbox. When successful, give a treat.

Nope.
This is my first time keeping a cat.
The litter i bought is from RM2.40 shop.
The litterbox is also from the same shop, which is used to plant plants, i think. Something like a paper dispenser used on office table. It has a low front entrance, which is easy for kitten to enter and exit.

Another thing, do you people separate kittens/cats by gender?
I'm afraid that if i saved more kittens and they're not spayed, on no time my house will have more kittens than humans.
I actually don't intend to spay them for the time being.
*
Congrats! The best litter I used so far is Cindy & Friends Tofu Litter, almost no smell and clumps very well (better than those Rm27-28 a pack).

Cat will reach sexual maturity by 6 months, best to spay/neuter - also to avoid marking and straying outside issues. I believe Selangor gomen have subsidy for cat spaying that cost less than RM100. Remember to get your cat vaccinated ya.

I intend to let them breed for 1 or 2 times, then I'll spay them afterwards.
I really love those cute kittens.
Thank you but too bad I'm not from Selangor.
At what age can a kitten get vaccinated and deworm as well as deflea?
*
Vaccine: 3 months (and min 3kg weight according to my vet)
Deflea: Can deflea immediately but mind the dosage according to kitty weight. My vet just advise me to spray Frontline on my kitty back when she was 3 months old and malnourished (just adopted her, her previous owner said she's 3 mth but vet said she looks like 2 mths so....)

Last week brought my cat to the vet for annual vaccine and she's 4.2kg. Concerned that she's overweight, my vet said nope she's ideal, all you saw was just fluff. So now we cannot call her fatty girl anymore.

p.s My cat was picky with her food and sometimes skipped dinner, guess she was dieting on her own lol.

Recently my cat has been picky with her meals, taking sweet time to finish or even not touching them. She will eat if I add wet food/gravy to them.

So I'm thinking of mixing her kibbles with wet food. Any brand recommendation?

Currently she's on RC Hair & Skin, thinking of switching to Taste of the Wild if I'm mixing with wet food to be kinder to my pocket.

p.s. Anyone feeding their kitties raw egg? What's a safe frequency to feed?

Haha, recently i adopted a 2 months old male kitten.
I mixed this male kitten together with my 5 or maybe 6 months old female cats together.

At first, one of my female cat bullied him for days.
After that, they're like best friends forever now.

Anyway, my question is, if i continue to keep them together, will my female cats get pregnant although their age is different?
*
Yes, cat become sexually matured at 6 months. If you don't have plans nor the budget to breed, please spay all your cats, starting with the female first.
It also resolve marking and roaming outside issues.

Guys, are those anti flea/tick collar effective?
I noticed that one of my cat's ear is bitten by something, like got some small fresh bites.
I bought an anti tick/flea spray to spray on them, but they always run away.
Whenever i catch them, they'll use their paws to run and scratches me.
They don't like getting wet.
*
Never worked for me.
Use Advocate spot on, immediately all fleas died within 48 hours.

So... last Saturday I brought my new kitten home. Sweet fella, a total lapcat & sleeping buddy.
Now the thing is, my older cat hate him, not just hissing but growling and wanting to swipe & bite him. 2nd night she sprayed at my bedroom door as warning.
Kitten also hissed at my old cat and dog coz he's scared.
So he's been staying in my room for the past few days, occasionally making supervised visit to the living room in the evening.
Last night he wouldn't hiss at my dog, but still enemies with my cat.
I was thinking should I let them fight for once? But my older cat is like 4 times heavier than him...

How often do you deworm your cat? I googled some says every 3 months, some says 6 months, some say once a year.
*

My cats 100% indoor, so I deworm them once a year when they make annual vaccine visit.

But if your cat goes outdoor, or you are feeding them raws, should deworm them at least once every 6 months.

Hi all, I am using Odourlock litter but the price has been getting crazy lately. Before covid it was rm69 now is already rm99. Any good brand for litter sand?
*
Been using Cindy & Friends Tofu Litter for more than a year, easy clump, less dust and odour control. Tried other more expensive brands like Real Labs, Cator, Petshy but Cindy & Friends the best so far.
