Imported food have been going up & up a lot. They take advantage of our weak currency & some also take advantage to fill their belly.
I don't know any local brand that is good. You could try homemade recipe. All meat recipe may cost more depending on how many cats you have. There are other recipes that contain a lot of fillers but use chicken liver+heart & any meat to cover protein & vitamins. This is cheaper I think.
Unless these home made can apply the manufacturer's HACCP + guaranteed Analysis under ISO. I wouldn't mind buying themI don't know any local brand that is good. You could try homemade recipe. Many gimmicks homemade are exploiting these so-called "natural cooking" methods. it is a ticking time bomb DVS will crack them down.
I did buy homemade before, but when I asked them, they can't even produce a standardized feeding nutrition value, meaning each cooking portion will have a different % of protein, fats and fibre. And each cooking will have different Vitamins. Which is dangerous for pets, because they can't speak if any health symptoms occur.
So before you talking about weak currency and conspiracy. it is very rare to find a Malaysian Manufacturer who could produce high-quality kibbles because the ISO and HACCP are so difficult to get and very tedious.
Research:
“Avoidance of conventional pet foods in favour of (home-made) and (raw food products) may put the health of dogs and cats at risk, ” warn the researchers, citing published analyses indicating insufficient levels of nutrients or imbalances in these diets and associated health conditions."
