QUOTE(spunkberry @ Jan 5 2022, 02:21 AM) I have been reading that vets usually lack knowledge in pet nutrition and are more likely to be against/very cautious against it. I'm currently feeding a home made meal (made by a seller) consisting of chicken meat, heart, liver, neck and head and it is not cheap. So I'm thinking of trying to do it myself but worried about the imbalance of nutrients or other precautions of raw feeding. |

QUOTE(evonnewoon @ Jan 29 2022, 02:29 PM) I have thought of raw feeding my cats before, but i gave up coz its not easy to source for hygienic raw food. You have to be very sure of the meat sources, from the moment the chicken is slaughtered til it reaches your hand, the whole process has to be completely hygiene or you will risk causing your cat a whole bunch of other health problem before nutrients imbalance happens. In my opinion, if you can be sure of the entire raw food source handling process is being done in a hygienic environment, without any risk of bacteria contamination, only then you should consider about raw feeding. Hi Evonne, yes your concerns definitely very valid. In fact, since my last post, I've decided to partially bake the meat in the oven to kill off surface bacteria. Lisa Pierson uses this method as well!https://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/ |

Anyone had good experience putting your cat at a cat/pet hotel?
I'm looking to put my cat for like 10 days and looking for something affordable. The thing I'm worried about is the cat experiencing stress and possibly contracting disease or something. |

So I watched a video on single kitten syndrome and realized this is what is happening to my cat who just turned 1 year old recently. He bites a lot and plays rough. (We found him when he was 1 month old only has some socialization with another kitten until 3 months or so only)
Is it still okay to adopt a kitten and can this lessen the single kitten syndrome in my 1 year old cat? This post has been edited by -kytz-: Oct 4 2022, 12:24 AM |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Oct 4 2022, 12:20 AM) So I watched a video on single kitten syndrome and realized this is what is happening to my cat who just turned 1 year old recently. He bites a lot and plays rough. (We found him when he was 1 month old only has some socialization with another kitten until 3 months or so only) Just an update. I have adopted a 9-10 month old female cat from one of the rescuers. Rescuer said the cat is quiet but later I found out the cat was always kept in a cage for 1 month already Is it still okay to adopt a kitten and can this lessen the single kitten syndrome in my 1 year old cat? Will be receiving the cat next month. Hopefully, the new cat can socialise and play together with my 1 year old male cat. Also, I was watching some videos, so I have to dedicate a special room for the new cat. I will prepare a separate food bowl and litter box. Hopefully the cat is comfortable enough for the first few days then I can start introducing the male cat's scent to the new cat. Overall, usually how long does it take for a new cat to fully adapt to the new surrounding and to befriend the existing cat? My current cat should have no issues as he is very friendly to any cat or any human - super sociable This post has been edited by -kytz-: Nov 15 2022, 09:13 PM |

QUOTE(IpohGuyz @ Oct 19 2022, 10:20 AM) It's better to have companion, different sex preferably. They can teman each other when you not available. I have 12 cats. Not worried leaving them alone when I go vacation/long period of times, since they got companions. Only problem is too much shits when return home QUOTE(haturaya @ Oct 19 2022, 11:20 AM) Same case with my 7 cats. Roaming freely in and out of our house. The have their own door to get in and out. The cat litter can 'overflow' if left them alone for 4-5 days. I feed my cat wet food. But I think I can compromise by giving the cats dried food to use with the auto food dispenser. Water is no issue too. But what about the litter box? Buy extra litter boxes? If it works, might be able to save a lot of money as pet hotels are pricey! Like RM70-80/night for a decently large room. QUOTE(haturaya @ Nov 16 2022, 09:37 AM) As for the litter box. I have 5 large litter boxes in my house's toilet. That toilet is dedicated for cat's toilet, off limit to human use. I clean them on daily basis. My cats' hates 'dirty' litter box. Do you have someone coming to check on your cats when you are away? Worried the auto feeder may not work, water fountain toppled over, cats got injured and bleeding, etc?I did install a ventilator, sucking toilet 'fume' straight to outside of the house. Very minimal smell in the house. |

I sent my new cat for her 3rd vaccination but didn't realize she doesn't need one until end of the year as she's an adult cat (adults need 2 times while kittens need 3). Vet noticed scabs on her ear which I mentioned some bleeding there.
Vet shined some blue light or something and showed worms/parasytes which is glowing under the light. I actually found out i got charged RM15 for this very simple procedure. Vet got me anti fungal/baterial/antiseptic cream for her. Brand is Surolan. Cost me RM48 Vet noticed some fleas on the cat and asked me to get deflea medicine for her and my other male cat at home. Cost me RM40+34 Consultation cost RM35. In total, vet bill was RM172 Also previously, when my older cat's paw got cut and slightly bleeding on his paw. Vet bill was like RM120+ for a very simple treatment like only trimming the fur around the area, cleaning the wound and applying cream. I was only given a small round tube of cream. ....... With all these vet bills, think I want to get a pet insurance already Any thoughts on Oyen? Like how easy it is to claim etc and things to note about: https://www.oyen.my/cat-insurance Also looking at CG Cover Pet insurance https://cgcover.com/pet-insurance/ Just to cover vet bills and possible surgeries in the future. Looking at the cheapest RM299/year plan which should cost around RM50/month for both my cats. Some info on my cats: Both spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated. Strictly indoor cats. Wet food twice daily. This post has been edited by -kytz-: Jan 9 2023, 01:39 AM |

My cats are weird, I have always been feeding them wet food but sometimes they don't even eat their food. But when it comes to kibbles they get very excited and will finish everything.
The wastage is frustrating and for wet food it is not hygienic to leave it out for a few hours. Now I'm thinking of getting some kibbles and put some on top of their wet food. Any good high protein brands to recommend? Saw a brand called Acana. Previously I fed them Molly kitten kibbles. Also wanted to ask is my cat infected with parasytic worms? I recently saw it again in her eyeball and I have seen this before months ago also... Is this something I can just buy online or do I need to go to the vet? Cant find the medication on shopee. . |
