Oh okay. So once per month spot on flea treatment is enough? No need any other maintenance for their fur, right?
*
Yup.

As for flea treatment, I do it on needed basis. If I see flea, then I'll do the treatment. One of my cats, hardly any flea but the other, like a flea magnet. sweat.gif All of them are 'free-range' cats. Indoor and outdoor as they wish.

For fur treatment - it depends on cat, long hair one maybe can send for grooming & trimming every 2-3 months. Nothing much. Cat groom their fur religiously tongue.gif

Yeah they are indoor. But somehow they still get fleas.
Not sure if because the fleas come from me when I feed stray cats that camp outside my house. sad.gif

yes very high chance frm there.

the area that the stray cat camp, u can frequently spray insecticide,
when it is not raining or when it is dry,
and also u can spray the area of ur hse where ur cat likes to lepak.

u can buy this brand and mix according to the lable.
it doesnt have any smell at all, and the level is like ridsect etc, just dont have any smell n very cost effective.
hardware / online got sell

Having a cat is a lifetime commitment. It's a companion. Not a toy / something to be a bragging right. It's like a close extension of one family member. So, on daily basis, it's like one of your family members that you have to attend to. sweat.gif

Not really a lecture, just sharing some experience. One of my cats even died on my lap. Sick. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Okay, I used to have a Maine Coon. Bought it when he was 4 months old. Was with us for nearly 2 years. He was stolen. ranting.gif ranting.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Having a big cat like Maine Coon is like having a cat. Not much different than any other cat. Cat will do cat thing. Respond to you at their own term. tongue.gif Talkative, eats a lot (we fed him Royal Canine Maine Coon dry food and boiled fresh chicken), loved to have a daily car ride.

Extra grooming is a must (extra long hair). Litter box must be clean twice a day. He's clean freak. He'll complaint all day long till it's clean. Meow meow meow.. my litter box... hooman - clean it...

Nothing much. Maine Coon just a big & heavy cat. Gentle giant IMHO. Not hectic & notty like Bengal (used to have one too). thumbup.gif

Owh, forgot, Maine Coon can be train to be leash like a doggo. thumbsup.gif We used to bring our Maine Coon out on leash.

It's rare for a cat to go near water. They normally like their fur dry and warm. sweat.gif

"Ultimately, how frequently your cat should be vaccinated is determined by your cat’s lifestyle and relative risk."

Yes, every year....35 bucks is cheap vs the amount of heartbreak you go through if nothing done.

I sent my new cat for her 3rd vaccination but didn't realize she doesn't need one until end of the year as she's an adult cat (adults need 2 times while kittens need 3). Vet noticed scabs on her ear which I mentioned some bleeding there.

Vet shined some blue light or something and showed worms/parasytes which is glowing under the light. I actually found out i got charged RM15 for this very simple procedure.

Vet got me anti fungal/baterial/antiseptic cream for her. Brand is Surolan. Cost me RM48

Vet noticed some fleas on the cat and asked me to get deflea medicine for her and my other male cat at home. Cost me RM40+34

Consultation cost RM35.

In total, vet bill was RM172 sad.gif

Also previously, when my older cat's paw got cut and slightly bleeding on his paw. Vet bill was like RM120+ for a very simple treatment like only trimming the fur around the area, cleaning the wound and applying cream. I was only given a small round tube of cream.

.......

With all these vet bills, think I want to get a pet insurance already sad.gif

Any thoughts on Oyen? Like how easy it is to claim etc and things to note about:
https://www.oyen.my/cat-insurance

Also looking at CG Cover Pet insurance
https://cgcover.com/pet-insurance/

Just to cover vet bills and possible surgeries in the future.

Looking at the cheapest RM299/year plan which should cost around RM50/month for both my cats.

Some info on my cats:
Both spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated. Strictly indoor cats. Wet food twice daily.
