Strongest growth in total assets under administration for Affin Hwang AM

user posted image

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 3): Affin Hwang Asset Management Bhd's (Affin Hwang AM) total assets under administration (AUA) rose by 26% in 2020, which is the strongest expansion recorded since the firm's inception 20 years ago.

According to its press release, the total AUA rose from RM58 billion at the start of the year to RM73 billion at the end of the year. The AUA reflect the combined growth of Affin Hwang AM and AIIMAN Asset Management, its wholly-owned Islamic fund management arm.

The growth was buoyed by steady inflows into its unit trust funds as investors sought for better returns in a low interest rate environment, said Affin Hwang AM. The company declared a total income distribution of RM1.16 billion across its retail and wholesale funds in 2020.

Hi all, sorry if this query sounds dumb or anything. But basically I bought the Affin Hwang Select Asia (ex Japan) Opportunity Fund - MYR; last 28 & 29th Jan and it shows - 3.31 down in value when I check today. The allocate plus app says updates as 31/1. However, Asia market went up on the 1st - 2nd Feb.

Hence, is it correct to assume that the price will rebound soon? And unit trust will only update their price later, hence todays decrease might not be indicative of actual state. I know we shouldnt time the market for UT, but wondering for a guide to my decision if I need to top up further to average down.

Thanksssss

If the majority of the holdings in that fund appreciated then it is likely the fund NAV will increase.

No, unit trust always publish the exact value everyday. Usually collect the stock prices at 12 and then later in the afternoon publish the daily price.

But you need to see the stocks from this unit trust, not "Asia market".

It has 10% fund volume in Alibaba and another 10% in Tencent.

Alibaba goes up and down a lot this week.

Very boring unit trust by the way cool2.gif
