Hi Wilson Low,

If you decide to pursue a Master's Degree because you feel that it gives you a perk of getting a better salary and job opportunity, then the answer is no.

But if you decide to pursue it because you want to know more about your subject matter or because you want to venture into education, by all mean you should.

Before you proceed with a Master's degree, may I suggest you enroll in English classes? It would help a lot in your Master degree (research-based especially)

If I am in your place, I would find alternatives while waiting for interviews maybe grab or other delivery service

I will also try to do internship first if there is really no opening for permanent roles

Try to avoid adding more commitment as based on your story you have already some loans.

May the force be with you 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

WILSON LOW while this may sound like an insult, it is a legitimate advice. You have no idea how much value it adds to you simply being able to speak proper English, simply put if there are two applicants of equal qualifications for the job, I'd go with the one who can carry himself well.

I am 28 years old, just graduated Bachelor of Human Resources at private university. I am still seeking for a job. But, government was implemented MCO in some states, especially KL and Selangor. This was caused me very hard to find a job and unemployment rate was rose in previous month. The unemployment rate may increases again in the coming months. So, I am intending to pursue Master degree, but I have financial issue and I also need to pay back PTPTN loan for my previous Bachelor studies. I am confusing now. How should I do?😥
*
No, bad idea. If you already have a Bachelors degree, getting a Masters degree does not improve your chance at getting a job, nor does it improve your pay. IMHO getting a Masters degree only makes sense if you either want to change field, or you want to pursue Phd and become researcher in your current field.

Idk how much of a commitment you have, but if it were me, I'd go for a language class while working part-time and job hunting. Taking Masters at this point seems to be only adding more to your debt (unless you are taking full scholarship)

1. Its never too late to learn new things
2. Try graduate certificate OR upskills certification that will help your "business" degree. This days, you can even learn it Online. ( eg:FutureLearn.com/ Coursera/ Udemy/Open Uni / edX)
3. Please, please Wilson low. If that was your name. DO Attend more proper or NGos like toastmaster club to improve your English. Its Okay to make mistaken, but I hope someday you wont get judged being a HR some by better distinction and capable future employees. Also please drop the "Malaysia-glish" concept.

serious talk, see if your masters program is offered in part time. Then try to work while studying for masters. who knows, your conpany may even sponsor part of your course fees?

Come in expected to troll ts, as ayam suspected is a dupe. Mana tau is 2013, lulz.

Here is ayam punya 2 cents:
-Since u are having financial isues, ayam suggest dun study master 1st. Else u gonna have a hard time paying back the fees, in addition to ur degree fees.
- Better to look for a job first, dun add unnecessary monetary load, unless u can start master without paying much money
- Its good also to improve ur english. Do not need to spend money on this. There are many ways to learn from internet and video like youtube.

Seriously no. If you think getting Master degree will make you more employable & higher salary, you are wrong.

Unless you are pursuing career in higher education or climbing up to senior management level, which you are not, your bachelor degree is enough.

Better to work and taking class to improve skills like English class or specific technical cert.

A master's degree is always better than a degree

Work and study part time

Work hard to earn yourself two degree and two master's degree. Huge difference

People shouldn’t judge people going and graduating uni as a mature student.

English can always be improved. English lessons will not help actually and is a waste of money. Need to practise listening and talking more. Workplace can prepare you for that.

Master degree is a waste of money though for your field of study. I don’t know what can a masters in PR and HR do. Also financial issues like you said does not help the situation.

i am convinced that tertiary education institutions is a scam. you were made to borrow ptptn before you even know what a loan is, and then spend years to pay back for an education that didn't help you land a job.

a masters degree is a bigger scam. don't do it.

Let me give you a genuine advice ....

If you do not have any working experience... there i no point for you to get a masters

Masters only would help you when you are on the very top.... where you would need to impress the directors or CEOs

Don't believe those nay sayers that think masters is useless but don't think you can get anywhere if your sole purpose of getting a master is to secure your first job...

Hi, I am currently working while taking part time master's. Most master's classes are after working hours anyway, and most master's student are working full time to earn an income.

However, you still need to find a job if you can. Have an income while studying on the side.

I also take ptptn to study. But my plan is eventually quit my day job and be a lecturer. It depends on your career pathway.

If you want to do it, just go for it. The ptptn loan is insignificant to your lifetime earnings. What's RM40k at 1% interest if you going to earn a few millions by the time you're retired.

If for sale of salary, don't, don't give up just yet trying to get a job. Just try anything remotely close to your field. I think employers will have a hard time giving you a job to match your qualification but with no experience

But if you feel it's just for self improvement, sure, go ahead.

Don't give up but you need to juggle between job and studies.

I did mine part time as well. It is tough but it is worth it.

Still since you are stretched financially, my advice is to make ends meet first.

Depending on what kind of Master Degree you are getting. For example, it is beneficial to have a few years of working experience before enrolling in courses like Master in Business Administration & Master in Project Management. Because you will understand the course better and perform better in general with your past working experience.

If you are taking Master just to kill time now I do not think that is a viable options. Try to get some working experience, care less for the pay now because you are a fresh graduate and also the current economic conditions. If you have the options, start from a small company where they hire HR executives, you will learn a lot more in small company than working in huge company.

Please take note that having a master degree does not always guarantee you a job, but it may help you advance in a cooperate ladder. Usually companies would avoid hiring fresh overqualified candidates.

The choice is in your hands, try to think ahead and sketch out your plan for both route and analyze which is a better option.

Don't worry about k/tards that make fun of your English. It is part of the learning process. Keep learning!

I'm wandering what is the additional value of the knowledge gained in a HR masters that would increase employability in that field?
Worse still, a freshie rocking up to an interview waving a masters' degree when your HR manager might not have one (but has more work experience) might decrease his chance of getting hired.

You should really improve your English first

My post above was reported. I guess by TS as he deemed it an insult.
Actually I didn't mean it as an insult. The only insult I see is you degrading & mutilating the English language with zero care for grammar & noun and end up insulting yourself.
