Is there any possibility that companies will last forever?
Without being dragged down by opponents, without facing competitions, without being eliminated because of innovations?

I can only think of the stock exchanges, Bursa.
I saw another answer too, Disney. Since its every characters are registered for copyrights.

But in the end, if these companies last forever, we would also never know since we will die anyway.

Whether companies last forever or not depends on the staff and the management. Since human is fallible, in theory, no company will last forever.

In the landscape of today, that looks incredibly unlikely. Domination today is no recipe for survival tomorrow. That notion looks to be a little dated.

In the 1960s, an S&P 500 company was projected to last over 60 years.
Today, that has fallen to 18 years.

Last forever is no longer the goal. Being able to reinvent and adapt to the times is.

Ancient companies also buy up new companies so they don't have to adapt or wait to die

These days new companies that truly innovate just waiting to be acquired

disagree. both can be faded out.

Bursa - As we are going more toward connected world in a global scale. if it is not competitive in term of cost and opportunity, the funds will go to other markets. When that happens, the volume and liquidity will drop, and chain of reaction start there.

Disney - copyright or patented does not make profit by itself, but the demand for something that is patented. Those characters we like today can be replaced by other characters, or disliked by future generations. Sailor Moon for example, its fading away already, high chance if you go ask kids in primary school 10 years from now, they won't even know what that is.

Mcdonalds maybe? Its food, humans always require food. They can always adapt eg: coming out with healthier or vegan options

Even The Dutch East India Company, the largest company in history (by market capitalisation, after adjusting for inflation) went kaput and only lasted 198 years. No company will last forever.
