QUOTE(Crystal38 @ Jan 19 2021, 06:09 PM) Ultimately still need beam and column support (like building a deck overseas). whether the walls can tahan the load or not. One thing for sure the floor beam and column will use a lot of hardwood/I beam frame. This post has been edited by ceo684: Jan 19 2021, 11:05 PM |

i have seen some of these renovations. Usually it is known as attic or "LOTENG" locally. the supporting structure usually made from steel. 10ft x 10ft is not really big and can be done easily.

QUOTE(Crystal38 @ Jan 21 2021, 10:12 PM) Are you the contractor? Depends, u can use whatever the ceiling finishes but the cost will up accordingly. The one stated above u can see the hollow section but the plywood u can see from below is those white color smooth one. but from above only can see plywood without any finishes. U can install laminate floor on top of plywood.Do you have the picture to show me how the design look like? From upstair can see the wooden floor. But from downstair is the wooden ceiling? This is the lightest method for attic as hardwood all will be very heavy. |

QUOTE(Crystal38 @ Jan 22 2021, 11:58 AM) Theoretically one 2x4 balau already support a heavy person across the entire few feet span without cracking but for detail load calculation advisable to contact an architect (or firm). Anyhow also needed since doing structural modification need to submit plan. The structural consideration on point load and other stuff best engage them as design load of 100kg per sq feet vs 1000kg psf will entail totally diff material neededThis post has been edited by ceo684: Jan 22 2021, 03:17 PM |
