Hello all, i am just able to get a PS5. my current setup is a Dell 27" 1080 HDR monitor. Should injust directly get sony x90h? My room is abit small for a huge TV like that or should i just get a 4k60hz monitor as a small upgrade and wait for the hdmi 2.1 real deal on TV

not much ps5 games let alone those that support 120hz, best to save money and wait few months until more titles come out.

For now 99% games only support 4k60hz which is still good for your 1080p monitor

Tks bro, but 1080p still worth it vs 4k?

4K 60hz is still a massive upgrade over your puny monitor .

Especially when it claimed to be HDR , which is laughable at best .

Many of these so called " HDR monitors " uses IPS panel which further reduce contrast and dynamic range .

resolution depends a lot on your seating distance, if you're gaming on your desk just stick with your monitor, but if you're looking to replace your TV and you sit 6ft away then yes get 4k but >55 inches

btw, none of the ps5 games is running native 4k, they are upscaled from 1440p

AC:V 's new patches added a Quality mode which is running at dynamic resolution but locked at native 4k on PS5 . This has been tested by several others including digital foundry .

PS5 ver of Miles Morales ' fidelity mode is also running at native 4k .

Demon soul's cinematic mode too is running at native 4k .

I also wonder if running a PS5 with a 1080p monitor is wasting the hourse power of PS5, tks for solving my query. My sitting position is very close like a normal computer desk distance. Temporary those catch my eye (my budget) 4k monitor is a Dell S2721QS or a LG 27UL600-W. Dell is cheaper, i hope it can get the job done. So in future i can have more budget to upgrade a proper HDMI 2.1 setup

X90H is great. But better if you can wait for X90J. Improved processor with VRR.

The resolution is but a secondary aspect . The main focus should be getting better pixels , not just more pixels .

The X90H can , to a certain extends provide you with a taste of HDR . Far better than any of the monitors you have listed .

IPS naturally have low contrast . The whole idea of HDR is , like its abbreviation suggests , High Dynamic range .

Low contrast = low dynamic range , it is that simple .

VA is slightly better thanks to its high contrast nature , TN is simply a cost-cutting solution at this point .
