No no, don’t do that. Apple is a different animal. The Android purists here will curse and swear just after a month laugh.gif

Perhaps you are aware I was looking to get a phone for the past few months. Towards end of last November, due to the lack of choice, got a Note20 Ultra. Against the Note10+ I had immediately before this, I would say the former is much better overall. Btw, both are the Exynos variant.

Then first week of this year, switched to an iPhone 12Pro Max. And this is to address your point. I had been on iOS for many years until the 7 series. After that, have been using Android. After a day of playing around with it, for the life of me, I just could not get back to the swing of iOS. You know what? Sold the phone on the 2nd day. LOL. So yeah, right you are, Apple is a different animal.

Thus, again, my antenna is out for another phone. Hence, lurking around to sponge up more information before deciding.

I am no fan of Exynos thus far. But there have been some good reviews of this Exynos 2100. Looks like it is comparable to Snapdragon, at least to a certain extent as opposed to the previous gen.

Being a new SoC, I think we should wait for some real life experiences before we throw it under the bus.

No idea why so many people complaint price is more expensive in Malaysia sweat.gif
I am not defend for Samsung, the price in Malaysia is slightly more expensive is due to we are getting 256gb instead 128gb in US laugh.gif

Probably this fact escaped them. Just like the Note20 ultra, US does not get the earphones.

From leaks and initial news, apparently that’s the case.

Last model, the S20 series, they were using the SD SoC but for this S21s, it looks like they are reverting to their own chip. This, by and large shows that this time the Exynos is nothing to yawn at.

Jz ordered my Ultra 512mb  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif first time ever migrating out of my comfort zone as a hardcore iphone fan. kinda nervous   sweat.gif  sweat.gif
Has been Iphone fan since iphone 4

was waiting Samsung to change Exynos but i guess now 2100 should be the answer to Snapdragon.

For the part of price down and so on and so forth .... it will be trend - rember we buy phone not for resale value but we really love it and enjoy using it.. new model will be out less than a year...

charger? i had unused iphone chargers and 6 other 3rd party chargers sitting at home coz i used wireless charging 99% of the time.. y i need to care if thy no longer provide - ultimately nobody will care...in a year or 2
Micro SD- we iphone users already used to it from the beginning...

Conclusion : migrating from iphone to samsung android - samsung features is overkill compared to iphone especially camera dept. reliability : will hav to see. tongue.gif

Could I just jump on your boat and offer my take on this?

If one who has been out and about freely and all of a sudden finds himself in prison, it will take a while for him to adjust and if at all he eventually can, he may grudgingly do it cause he’s stuck in there and has no choice. However, conversely, if he had been in jail and finally released, he will find it refreshing as he can do almost everything at his whims and fancies, without too much restrictions.

Thus, I am almost certain you will enjoy what Android can offer. A caveat though. Fanboys of Apple/iOS are not included in my analogy.

On a side note, there is really no point going for the latest tech with 5G especially, since implementation of the 5G network would definitely be delayed due to Covid and all the issues surrounding us. Many telcos have mentioned the implementation of 5G to be delayed from last year to this year but I feel its going to be much later than that, most probably 2022. So yeah, it really serves no purpose at all in getting the latest tech for now.
*
I share the same sentiments. But it’s not like those who wish to change or buy new flagship phones have a choice. Most if not all of them are equipped with 5G.

After owning the a 5G capable phone for a year without 5G coverage, that is how I truly feel.  sweat.gif Should have just held back on the purchase since upgrades are just minimal upgrades here and there, not much innovation and ultimately excitement.

And to make it even worse, this round they are shortchanging us on a bloody Rm5 charging brick for a phone costing Rm5k and above. How about no? shakehead.gif

Well, all I can say is we play the cards we are dealt with. The option is of course to leave the table if we want to abstain.

I am perplexed by the fact why many are clamouring about the price hike here and also about the need to sell the freebies to reduce the cost of the phone.

The freebies are being given out so that your experience with the device as well as the the entire Samsung ecosystem is elevated. This is also being done to indirectly resolve complaints about what's lacking in the box.

- No charger - Let's give them a trio wireless charger that's also happens to come with a 25w fast charging brick

- No earbuds - Let's give them the absolute best that we have to offer now. (Pro for S21 Ultra)

- Anyone is even slightly interested, let's give them a Galaxy Fit 2.

This are all on top of the absolute flagship device that you will be getting. There are devices out there which may be better than this but there are also devices out there which charges a higher premium and does not give a damn about consumers.

You may be paying a high price now, but the elevated experience with the ecosystem is truly worth it.

Just my humble opinion. #notafanboy
*
While for the most part I do not disagree with your observation, it is for the pre-orders that buyers are getting the freebies. After that, there will be no more. And that’s when the prices of the devices will be deemed exorbitant. But if at all you are referring to the now, then you are absolutely right.

Those who are therefore concerned about the pricing should hold on to their purchase until such time that the prices come down which is imminent. That’s a given for Samsung mobile devices.

Well, we know this will happen eventually, especially after they decided to put S-pen into the S line. It's just a matter of time.

In future, you still can find the S-pen in S, Tab and the Fold series. However, we do not know whether they are as convenient as the Note series. Look at the S21 Ultra.......you need to buy extra casing in order to keep the S-pen. doh.gif
*
This is my take insofar as the SPen is concerned.

All models they decide to add SPen functions into is an added feature for those phones. I believe they will evolve the Folds into THE phone to replace the Notes. Samsung will in all likelihood give a home to the SPen. But again, these are all speculations and only time will tell. But from what I have read, it is an educated guess.

Ditto my friend, tough I agree with your observation too, the price being exorbitant is just but a perceived notion owing to the imminent drop in price after a given time.

For me what I look at is the value that the device offers. For someone deeply entrenched in the ecosystem, the value that you get from the device (not monetary but those that are intangible) are more important.

It is for the same reason people throng to apple devices when it's launched.
*
Values are relative. Intangibles have no value per se in the sense that it is subjective. So, yeah, if you value the ecosystem, the price you pay for a device is secondary.

But most consumers who by the way have much to compare with, will, given that other brands with similar specs do not ‘hawk’ their products with such premium prices. And I reiterate, values are relative. So, it’s up to each individual to decide for him/herself what he/she deems worthy to acquire and at which point in time.

This is serious. I too and I am sure many others as well, would like to know. Is this a manufacturing fault(defect) or a design fault(meant to be like this)? If it’s the latter, then it is not something consumers can be happy about, for various reasons.

Every mobile phone brand, if you change the battery in their authorised service centre, water proofing is still there and if the warranty is still valid, it includes that.

OMG. Means you have unboxed. I don't think they allow for replacement anymore or do they?

Later end of the month .... Flash Sale~! Someone furious in the comment section claiming that their set has been registered on 27-Jan.  tongue.gif

The seller claimed that it's a new set. Unboxed merely to do inspection before ship!!! Sounds familiar, right?  tongue.gif  rclxm9.gif
*
There is no question that they must replace. However buyer must immediately inform seller.

It’s a mistake on their part. It’s not that there are defects and you have already unboxed, in which case you perhaps have to RMA. But it won’t hurt in this instance, to try for a replacement but do it in a timely manner.

A high percentage of us are cringing our necks to check out a video comparing the Snapdragon against the Exynos variant of this S21 series. I am sure whichever YouTuber is the first to do that, he/she will garner a high viewer traffic. So, if at all possible, do us a great service, quickly get one done and in turn help yourself.

You already have the Exynos iteration, right? Get the SD variant, do your video and I am sure the viewership payment will defray your cost. And perhaps I can even take the latter off your hands, if we can come to some agreement. Sounds like a plan?

I don’t mean to be a bane but if there’s a charge in between your battery usage is rendered inaccurate to be taken as a cycle. Just pointing out so that you and others are not misled.

I know but I was not addressing in that context. Just giving a heads up to him and others who would be led up the wrong path in believing that their battery life is better than it actually is, under that circumstance.

I only use one since i don't mind my lens protector getting scratches. camera lens attract too much fingerprint smudges. We basically needs to clean the lens everytime we take a shot. Without a lens protector those micro sands from your clothes will almost definitely scratch Yr lens.
*
I believe you mean scuffs as phone camera lenses don’t scratch as easily as you said but scuffs are a different matter. However, if one is careful they would not be evident and do not affect the camera too much or at all.

Scratches? Really? Not that I doubt your words but in my ‘not caring to remember’ number of years that I own a mobile phone, never was there a single scratch on any. Perhaps it’s due to my OCD.
