My friend did mentioned to me, all these clock power etc.. In real life usage got use or not?

I usually play games. So i memang expect to use most of it

Play game go Apple

Play games then Snapdragon is generally the better choice, for the wider compatibility and more powerful GPU.

msacras, not sure if you can read mandarin or not. But you are completely right about your 2nd point above.

here's the 3d mark test provided by korean users (exynos 2100).

https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/MobileComm/M.1610871561.A.523.html

Summary.

The thermal throttling and power efficiency is suck compared to SD865. The phone can get very hot easily. So ya. if what happens to SD888 is true, then the same goes to Exynos2100.

The user's suggestion is stick to S20 (Korean is using SD865), only upgrade when S22 is released.

Not really. SD doesn’t fate to win over Exynos yet.

If you take a deeper look at SD888 and Exynos2100, you will realise they’re almost identical on CPU tech this year. In fact Exynos is clocked higher than SD888 cores to cores.

Qualcomm didn’t tweak much off ARM reference design this year round, hence it’s almost identical to Exynos. And to double down on the similarities, Snapdragon this year is manufactured by Samsung too, thus the previous discrepancies caused by TSMC vs Samsung fabrication shouldnt happen again this year.

But again, other than the CPU, other parts of chipset may start to differentiate itself, especially the GPU and modems.

What’s interesting is even SD888 seems over ambitious and over claimed on the improvements this year. Samsung’s 5nm can’t sustain properly the improvements yet. The improvements (benchmarks and etc) are not sustainable unless the excessive heat issue is resolved thermal throttling to a lesser extent. This also translate to higher draws in power and lesser battery life.
*
This Exynos 2100 ditched Samsung’s Mongoose core..instead, Exynos 2100 is fully using ARM Cortex core

So it should be more or less similar performance with Snapdragon 888

I think if they (Samsung and Qualcomm) is not so ambitious and push for such high clockrates, it should still be mitigable and marginally better than SD865.

May be they will u-turn and decide to downclock (through software) in order to overcome the overheat issue. Still got 2 weeks to decide before the phone release globally. LOL

Guys,

I have preordered the s21 ultra now. Prior to the launch, I have also registered my interest via Samsung website and they are offering another Galacy Fit 2 as a free gift for the early registration.

Irregardless of the price hike, the freebies itself this time around justifies the purchase of the device. Just my opinion.

I have searched for S20 SD version up and down. So difficult to find a new one. Most of them are used phones.

As for S20fe, you will have 50-50 chance to get one that may have touch screen issue.

I dont think so bro.. I think the S10 series didn't sell too well  and being so they had too much leftover stocks of the S10 series that they had to give big discounts to get rid of it.

I thought S20 series sales even lower than S10?
Mainly due to CPU issue and covid 19 pandemic hmm.gif

I have watched/read couple of benchmark reviews. SD888 is better than exynos 2100. But we all knew it would be the same old thing. So no surprise there. The most important thing here is how big is the gap between snapdragon and exynos in term of performance this round. If not much, then I would call it a success.

No way exynos can win over snapdragon just in one year. That's dreaming. Of course they will have to take a longer time to achieve this. Just wait for next year and see if they will break through after AMD joining the team.

As for this year exynos 2100, I just hope that the signal reception is good, battery life is good, performance is good, then I am happy enough.

It's totally depends on how the owners use the phone. Most of them won't notice it in daily usage and simple tasks. Until they play game, then GG.com.

It's definitely not a rumor. I watched some reviews. Some did mention the S20fe touch screen is not as responsive as Samsung flagships. They even advise that it's not recommended for heavy task users and gamers.

I know some users in here said they seldom encounter such issue. But I definitely won't take the risk to buy a phone that may or may not have touch screen defects out of factory. Don't like to use my money to gamble.

Actually no need to be so afraid of getting a problematic S20 FE. Test the screen once received it, if got problem, claim for warranty lo.

My unit (S20 FE 5G) was one of the lucky ones, no touch screen issues at all.

The problem is Samsung won't acknowledge this as a hardware issue. They will tell you it's software problem and ask you wait for next update.

Here's the proof to show that Samsung see this as software issue.

I'm also wondering that the overheat issue is memang like this since wanna push for higher speed?

So far 5nm chip that doesn't overheat is huawei + apple

The real problem in here is not overheat. It's the performance during overheat. Based on the test result, when SD888 (5nm) overheat, the performance will be dragged down until SD865 level. And the most critical part is that it consumes much more power compared to SD865 even at the same level of performance. In other words, SD888 is actually the overclocked version of SD865. Hence the suggestion to ask people to stick to SD865 (7nm) for better stability and power efficiency.

You can watch this battery test. It shows how bad the SD888 (Mi11) perform in term of power efficiency compared to SD865 (Note 20 ultra). Not to mention that Mi11 is also hotter than Note 20 ultra during the whole process.

And yes. Most people blame Samsung because they are the one who manufactured the SD888. It's either Samsung's fault or Snapdragon's fault (the design is faulty in the first place). At the same time, people started to worry about the fate of Exynos 2100 since Samsung made it together with SD888. If Exynos 2100 is better, then people will say Samsung screw up Snapdragon. If Exynos 2100 is worse, or equally as bad as SD888, then nothing to see here. We, who been using exynos phones for many years, already get used to it. LOL.
