KEY POINTS
Stephane Bancel, CEO of Covid-19 vaccine maker Moderna, warned Wednesday that the virus will be around “forever.”

Public health officials and infectious disease experts have said there is a high likelihood that Covid-19 will become an endemic disease, meaning it will be present at all times, though likely at lower levels than it is now.

“SARS-CoV-2 is not going away,” Bancel said during a panel discussion at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference.

there have been documented cases of influenza progressing into pneumonia (similar to covid-19 progressing into pneumonia), which eventually caused deaths.

in Malaysia alone (Year 2020), there were 13,318 deaths from pneumonia.

I think the report is for 2019, not 2020.

Don't think we are that efficient can come out 2020 by 15 Jan 2021 ...

My question is since 2019 has 13000+ deaths due to pneumonia, why aren't there any complaints on ICU, ventilator shortages back then? Hospitals treated them at the morgue instead?

Today we only have like few hundreds in ICU already making such a hoo ha, MCO and this and that.

because the amount of resources for covid and normal pneumonia different, normal pneumonia first thing spread accross all gomen and private hospital. second, if u see gh wards, the bed lay out there also like dorminatory. the doctors and nurse can walk up and down with mask. suka mai, mai, suka pi, pi.

covid is different, the doctors and nurses have to wear like ufo, and how many staff can liddat. then private cannot handle d

im assuming these are among the factors.

Apart from the PPE burden, now both private and gomen hospitals will take in covid patients. no issue in terms of ICU and ventilators anymore.

If you look at the figures, 13000 vs 500. Covid deaths fare much better.
