what is the advantage of 3G/4G kitchen cabinet door vs glossy laminate blockboard/plywood kitchen cabinet door?

The price of 4G kitchen cabinet quoted to me is $100 extra per ft of cabinet compared to glossy plywood .

Is it worth the extra price?

Let me know.

Last time I plan to go for 3G/4G but the guys told me if you have kids, afraid the kids accidentally throw/break the cabinet with things. 3G/4G looks nice but have to be extra careful.

I forgot what is my outside layer material and its waterproof and inside i use solid wood. If have extra big budget better go for kayu nyatoh for very very long term. My sister use nyatoh already tahan for 10y plus.

normal ikea KC also can tahan 10 years... main important thing is to take care of your kitchen cabinet. if moisture starts sipping out, look for the source.

i believe when comes to 4G vs 3G vs normal lamination it's really the surface look... if you like the glossy kind of course 4G gives you the best effect. For me normal lamination can liao.. long term 4G may be too strong. i prefer subtle calming color tone at home.

The obvious reason is the material durability.
Wood vs Aluminium+Glass.

Laminate will fade off and subject to moisture/termite damage.
3G/4G will definitely more durable and looks better in long term.

Thanks for the feedback.
I like subtle calming neutral tone also.
The top cabinet I prefer plain white glossy.
Bottom base cabinet will most likely be light grey or neutral wood colour.

Countertop will be quartz with light marble like print.

if you like subtle tone there's no point to get 4G laminated. I'll go for 3G/4G laminated if i want my kitchen to be loud. brings up a strong tone to your home.

Anyway yeah my wife loves white too but just normal laminated cabinet for us. also get a reputable KC company to supply you next time you want to change all the door and hinges also easy. For me iKea is always my choice.. 25 years and fuss free.. they will be there in the next 25 years at least for me.

Thanks.
Yes. I like a neutral tone since I prefer the minimalistic style .
I am also concern about future resale value, thus is best just to keep it neutral.

So do you have white cabinet? Is it easy to maintain and keep clean?
How much does Ikea charge for their kitchen cabinet installation?

DOOR SELECTION
I use ikea metod kitcab, matte white doors without handle type, fully specced with soft close drawer/doors. All self install.
These are the matt white doors. https://www.ikea.com/my/en/p/voxtorp-drawer...white-00273585/

If on budget there are also 20-30 bucks doors/drawer front series. These need to add on a door handle. I decided to do the handle-less Voxtorp but it does cost a bit more lah.
https://www.ikea.com/my/en/p/haeggeby-door-20273985/

MAINTENANCE
White cabinet: Its pretty easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Wood top: soak in with mineral oil (worktop oil) before cutting/installation; thereafter do bi-monthly soak with more oil. I lacquered the sink surroundings for waterproofing.

INSTALLATION PRICE
https://www.ikea.com/my/en/customer-service...n-installation/
Pricing:
From RM85/metre
(Minimum charge of RM200)

Installation wise not that expensive. Roughly quoted (but I didn't proceed with ikea installation) was about 600 for 8 feet run top and bottom.

DELIVERY FEE
Delivery fee depends on how gung ho you wanna save money. The total bottom cabinet itself they manage to load on one trolley for me, was around 200-250kg. I drive a pickup truck so did it myself to save cost. Can check how much on their website, they charge per delivery trip.

SELF DELIVERY IS POSSIBLE
Most of the cabinets and drawer pieces are in small boxes, fairly easily transportable, whilst the worktop was long like 2.5m (sticks out the back of pickup bed).
As I remembered I think I am the only gila lady who DIY and self delivery. Cheras staff seems to know me "you from Damansara one?" when I ask for piecemeal SO opening - I batched the purchases to
1. worktop Dsara
2. full bottom half Dsara
3A. partial top cabinets without shelves and door at Cheras
3B. partial (all top cabinets' shelves) and partial door at Dsara
3C. no stock reservation for remainder door so instead of waiting for chance and waiting (whilst top cabinet looks funny) to buy again on Xmas eve hmm.gif I bought online to guarantee myself the stock, and fulfilled by Batu Kawan.
4. so lastly in short I have everything and setup all just remaining the doors and little bumper stickers for door/drawers but that's minor and can do anytime.

SELF INSTALLATION COMMENTS, APARTMENT/CONDO ISSUE
Being in a poorfag condo (rumaweep) I had time restrictions to drill so measured the rail with spirit level and it is perfectly level. Used whole lot of cheese head screw (not countersunk) per instructions.
Drilling works basically just need a rotary hammer because concrete wall.
Cutting the wood countertop need a circular saw for best results. Jigsaw also can-lah if you're not picky (but I was).
For the same price or so, I get to own the tools (for future usage) instead of paying people to come.

Technically the hard part is to cut the countertop and sink hole; drill the wall (for these need circular saw and rotary hammer if concrete wall)
If not undermount sink then the hole perfection level is not a life and death matter..still can plus minus one..saw some simply cut as per youtube since gonna cover the hole rclxub.gif but generally not that hard to do for wood countertop.

For other countertop material one I haven't tried yet.
