Hi, I understand that CIE has stopped giving students their raw marks for each of their papers and instead only their grades and percentage uniform mark for each of their subjects (for A level).

1.Since when did CIE discontinue giving students their raw marks and why have they done this?

2. Why does my school still not have the raw marks for all my papers (I received my A Level results for the November 2020 series today 2pm GMT+8)? Is this normal? If so, then how long will it take for schools to get the raw marks?

3. If I ask for a re-mark for all of the papers of one or more of my subjects, how likely is it that my grades will be upgraded? My percentage uniform mark for my Mathematics is 87, only 3 away from an A*.

I left A level too long so I can't comment on this issue.

Raw Marks was discontinued in May 2020 only I believe. As they believed it wasn't a level playing field nonsense due to COVID. (Maybe it is nonsense?)
As people in May 2020 who did AS/A2 did not took the actual AS/A2 Level Exams. Hence, they can't do a proper conversion of the RAW to Percentage Uniform Mark on your statement of results.
Is paying RM 300-500 for a remark that important? (It is cheaper to resit for that A Level Exam tbh). Was your AS Grade >90% given that you have sat for the AS Exam in May/June?

Does having an A* contribute you to any scholarship disadvantages? Maybe?
But it all depends how well is your interview process.

Normally a few percent in PUM is basically 5 to 20 marks. As A Level is graded on a Curve.

Wow, I didn't know it'd be that high, but I guess that makes sense since 1 pound = 5.47 ringgit. I definitely cannot resit A level exams. I don't know my AS grades, I took both AS and A2 during the November 2020 Series. I just need an A* so my results look cantik. Then I can have 3A*.

Well too late now, I've already emailed my school to request for a re-mark. Thanks for the answer.

Thank you for that reply. Yep, I didn't receive any raw marks. My physics teacher said it would take about two weeks for the school to receive it. I don't know if that's normal. Also I think now you don't have to pay Cambridge if your re-mark doesn't lead to a change in syllabus grade (this is what I remember from their website). I emailed my school and asked for a re-mark and they just replied with "Sure, we can do that. We'll send you a detailed quotation later." So I don't think they've submitted a request for a re-mark on my behalf yet and plus they never warned me about the high price I would have to pay..

I'll reply here again later if I know the price.

My school has the raw marks for Nov2020 series but they said CIE refrains schools from showing students their raw marks. Can anyone please explain the rationale behind this?

@iSean my school said it's roughly 75 pounds for one component, plus extra fees from school admin it'd be about 110 pounds per component. If only malaysian economy wasn't so bad.

Hence that's why I said it is easier to resit for an exam.
whistling.gif  Doesn't mean your teacher doesn't know the results.
Ask around you might get what you asked for.

I did mine in 2016 for AS/A2. So should be logical to get back your results.

Maybe I'll just email CIE directly. Private candidates are getting their raw marks, so I'm just so confused right now. Maybe my school is lying to me.

Update:

I emailed CIE on 15th January and they replied yesterday 9th February and sent an attachment of all my raw marks, but they did not say why they did not show students their raw marks this year like they usually do.
In my email I sent an attachment of my results, statement of entry and IC.

I'll just write it here.

Submit a request at https://help.cambridgeinternational.org/hc/...t_form_id=53542
I chose "Online request form".
I did not write any of my important details like candidate number, centre number, name etc. in the description box.
I attached pdf files of my results, statement of entry and IC (front and back).

They took long to reply because "Due to the significant number of enquiries and complexity of the issues being raised by schools, it may not always be possible for us to provide a detailed response, and responses to queries may take longer to be provided than would normally be the case. We appreciate the concern this may cause, but please be assured that we will endeavour to support schools as fully as we can at this challenging time."
