MELAKA: A 25-year-old female university student who was hoping to strike a fortune in cryptocurrency trading ended up poorer by RM86,000 after she was scammed.

State commercial crime chief Supt E. Sundra Rajan said the student was surfing Facebook when she saw an advertisement, promising lucrative returns in 72 hours once she had invested a sum.

“The student was then contacted by the scammer via WhatsApp,

explaining to her the mechanism on how she would obtain handsome returns.


“Once the student was convinced, she deposited the total amount in five different accounts between Jan 5 and 8, ” he said on Monday (Jan 11).

Supt Sundra Rajan said the student discovered she was conned and spoke to her family about her misadventure.

“Her family members advised her to lodge a police report.

“A report was then lodged at Tengkera police station on Jan 8, ” he said.

He added the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.


So young got RM86k?
But too bad too stupid to handle the money.

Maybe the 86k is after profit kot. Initial investment RM 8600 then 1000% paper profit. Then scammer say bitcoin fall and run away.

Inb4 menabung sejak lahir.
