Depends on the putty materials. Usually filler putty is just for filling any small holes or cracks, it's not meant to repair, it's just for anesthetics purposes. No strength
White cement is well white colored cement. If mixed with water with proper water cement ratio, it will be as strong as normal cement cube. You can even mix with clean sand to make mortar and gravel to make concrete just like a regular grey cement. |

Appreciate your kind reply!I'm new, and normally grabbed those PYE Filler powder to fill-up some holes and cracks on Plaster Ceiling (Toilet). I know nothing about Coating or Skimming products! So just thinking of whether the PYE Filler Powder could be used as Coating or Skimming product? Or, it's different material? |

Oh...so, Flaxi is White Cement, which is Cement, once got Hard, it fixed, unless drill or hammer to break it? |

Another shop recommended using Davco k11 rapid plug. I have a 1kg white cement at hand. What should I use? I have already applied anti rust coating on the exposed bars. spalling concrete, need to make mortar mix rather than just white cement. use 3 parts sand to 1 part cement. then patch over the exposed bars. its not easy work, you better get a handyman to do this if you no experience. you need to apply quite a lot of pressure when troweling/pressing in the cement or it will be weak.that shop is recommending you a premixed rapid setting mortar mix (means already have sand mixed in with cement), good for sealing leaking walls and wet places. most importantly, have you checked why your ceiling is spalling concrete? normally it means you have water leaking from above. Normally white cement used for tiling pointing (gap fill up) This post has been edited by jojolicia: Dec 26 2022, 11:31 PMOh, so white cement could be used for coating or skimming? Yes, in water mix ratio. But can it apply on Plaster Board like Plaster Ceiling? Yes Besides, the Filler Putty can't function as coating and skimming surface (Plaster Ceiling or Board)? Filler putty not for gypsum/calcium board surface skimming, its for masonry wall fill up, patch then sand down |

Is davco k11 a non shrink grout cement? Your case, use only non shrink grout cement to trowel over. You can buy it in prepacked. This post has been edited by jojolicia: Dec 26 2022, 11:39 PM |

Watching this video makes me understand why the previous repair in 2011 by the contractor failed so miserably. I didn't do my homework then and trusted him. What is the yellow tube thing that was used to seal cracks?
I was told to use sealer paint and Jotun Majestic Sense to cover hairline cracks on the wall. And if the hairline crack is too wide, use putty first. Now I know I have to stand 3 feet away before I call it a hairline crack! |

The actual label on the Davco tin doesn't have this description "non shrink grout cement".
....will try to upload a low resolution image tomorrow....I have just found ANOTHER two problem areas: 1) one tiny section of spralling concrete in one bedroom 2) a section of the wall in the sitting room is partially plastered because it was hidden by two cabinets. |

QUOTE(Zitrone @ Dec 27 2022, 12:34 AM) That davco will work as it is a type of cement mortar mix that is used to seal leaking holes very quickly ( the cement hardens within five minutes). However it is expensive and you need a lot of it To patch your spalling cement since your rebar is visible. Just call a contractor. Tell him/show him the video and tell him you want that kind of repair. But also ask him to check the roof above to make sure there is no water leaking. |

Putty, white cement or Davco? but to me, the problem looks like you might have a leak from above as the loose plaster is only at the edge of the ceiling/wall. touch the ceiling see if its damp after rain. Sorry, I am a novice here. You mean scrap off the loose portion and touch the ceiling to see if it is damp after rain (it's raining everyday now) before doing any mending? |

This one can DIY with white cement or putty right? Sitting room wall partially plastered. The unplastered wall held remnants of the old wallpaper. I have washed out the glue with hot water and left it to dry for 2days. |
