Hey guys, I need some advise on what kind of food should I take in order to avoid hunger before lunch or dinner.

Usually I get hungry about 1h 30m - 2 hours after taking my breakfast. After lunch, if I consume a large amount of meal or that one with lots of calories, the hunger will only take place after around 4 - 5 hours. If it's a small amount of food (what I usually have because I'm not a big eater), I will get hungry after 3 hours.

So my issue is, if I eat late before my hunger takes place, my stomach will produce a lot of gas causing bloating and it feels very uncomfortable. At first, I was thinking of drinking milo (only have 3 in 1) but after made some research I found out that it's not good to consume a lot as it has a high level of sugar.

While it's true that you should restrict your sugar intake, you can still have milo if you want since you've said it yourself that it's not good to have milo in a big amount, drinking milo in moderate should do no harm. But to delay hunger, you can eat something high in protein/fibre, e.g. eggs, milk or fruits. I personally think drinking milo wouldn't help with the situation since it's not that filling unless you're used to not having breakfast.

P/S: Diabetes is not linked directly to high sugar intake, but obesity. This implies that if you're an active person, high sugar intake should not bother your health that much, however, it's still not recommended to have that much sugar.

Try to do away with the traditional big lunch and dinner practices, eat small meals throughout the day.

Eat when hungry but stop eating when you are no longer hungry. Type of food need to try see which suitable for you as you are already knowledgeable.

As always, exercise is important as well as to aid metabolism.

By the way, thank you everyone for the advise. I will try the solutions given and see which fit to my lifestyle.
So far, I managed to reduce the hunger before the main meal by drinking lots water, or eating big meal (will try to avoid it though sweat.gif )

Eat low calorie dense food.

Eg.

Strawberry 100 gram = 33 calories
Mushrooms 100 gram = 20 calories
Low fat greek yogurt 100 gram =78 calories
Any leafy vegetables
Pumpkin 100 gram = 26 calories

These are just some examples. As you can see you can incorporate many healthy low calorie dense food into your diet without too much worry as they contain very low amount of calories.

Imagine eating one kg of mushroom or pumpkin for less than 300 calories.

Snacking on high protein raw nuts (the unsalted/flavored/processed variants) such as almonds, walnuts, cashew, etc will help supress your hunger in the interim while waiting for your next meal.

Avoid eating useless highly processed junk food as these are just empty calories that contain high amounts of sodium that will just make you hungry faster and causes bloatedness.

1 full cup of plain room-temperature water b4 meals
for breakfast (if u wan 2 stay full for hours till lunch hour), eat oatmeals and add some fruits that can go well with them.
for lunch - depends on what u can eat/buy but if want to maintain healthy lifestyle, try high fiber dish like lots of leafy veggies and some lean meat, healthy/good fat food and good carb (keep it low)
dinner - can follow like lunch but can reduce portion and eat early (not later than 8pm)
then go to bed ard 9-9:30pm.

rinse and repeat

say no and dun eat junk food, unhealthy/oily food, no to sugary food (go google what are the different types of sugar and the chemical names, especially on product labels/boxes etc).

Tbh eating healthy is way more difficult in Bolehland than it is in many other parts of the world. Healthy food is not always readily accessible.

Hi there,

So you want to be satiated for a long time and to avoid bloating. Have you heard of Ketogenic diet? Extreme form is zero carb/carnivore diet. If you are willing to change your lifestyle, actually zero-carb will give. you zero bloating. And as long as you stay in ketosis and take quality animal fat, you won't get easily get hungry.

This diet should be very rare outside of USA. It is your choice.

Good luck!

You need to know what you are eating. If you eat fast carbs, then you will quickly want to eat again. You can drink a glass of water before you eat, 30 minutes beforehand. You also need to have a slight feeling of hunger after eating.

the most cost-effective foods for me are:

sardine/mackerel

oatmeal

eggs

Navy beans

Most food items ok if you want to eat healthy - but you have to be careful on the preparation of foods (too much fried foods, too much wheat in your diet is probably no no)
