Hi guys, I am thinking of getting a new laptop by next week for work + gaming. I work as a software developer , i usually use Visual Studio , Android Studio , MySQL workbench and so on. For gaming , I play Nba2k , Dota2, GTA, FarCry, NFS and I am okay to not play with Ultra Graphic. ( No FPS Shooting Game )

I can't wait for latest AMD Ryzen series because my illegear raven's motherboard just spoilt not long ago and the max brightness of my laptop is extremely low , almost unusable. I need to send it to repair as the laptop is still under warranty only until mid of February. The technician told me I need to wait for around 3 weeks , but this is my working laptop , i can't wait this long. That's why I am getting a new laptop.

I have a few choices which I will list out below , and please advise me on which one should I get thumbsup.gif

Choice 1 : Illegear Onyx V Ryzen
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H / AMD Ryzen 4600H
Graphic Card: RTX 2060 Max Performance (80-90W) / GTX1650
RAM : 16Gb Single Channel ( i will be self install another 16Gb after warranty ended )

Choice 2 : Level51 Forge 15-R
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Graphic Card: RTX 2060 Max Performance (Superior 115W Edition) / GTX 1660Ti
RAM : 16Gb Single Channel ( i will be self install another 16Gb after warranty ended )

Choice 3 : You guys can recommend me other brand as well

I hope this laptop will last for at least 4 to 5 years.

TBH , I am extremely indecisive on what specs should I get. If more cores, scare the CPU overkill. If getting 1650 or 1660ti , scare they won't be able to support future games.

Please help me guys icon_question.gif ! Thanks !

With your past illegear experience would you still want to go back with their product?

I am quite disappointed with the motherboard problem actually , i am only using it for not even 2 years and that happens.

But ... I am not sure about Level51 quality also , I am waiting for people who bought the Forge15R to comment their experience with the laptop.

If I remember correctly, Level51 laptops doesn't come with Windows activated I think I saw it from the brochure, that's what make it look cheaper...

Go one size up for the Rogue Ryzen. 17" screen with the body of older 15" laptops. The extra screen real estate is definitely noticeable. I have mine with 4800h, RTX2060 and the 144hz panel thumbup.gif

And why do you want to wait until the warranty to end to add another 16gb ram? As far as I know, opening the back case and adding in a ram won't void your warranty.

own and use forge15R since October 2020.. So far no problem, delivery is done within 10 days of order... If u dont mind the size and weight, i think this is a good choice... So far not regret getting this laptop... plus u will get free lifetime laptop service + thermal repaste whenever u want...

illegear not sure, but i see many good and also bad reviews on their unit... mind u, waiting time is kinda long for illegear...

why dont u wait for ryzen 5000 + nvidia 30 series?

Actually based on your criteria where u need to juggle between work stuff and games (like me tongue.gif ), one product that came to mind recently is the Acer Nitro 5.

The specs are on par with the other laptops that u're considering, and I would also trust a brand with proper testing, rather than assembled laptops cause I had bad experiences with them too.

Here's the link to the authentic product, in case u land on some fake product website:
