1) Buy brand new local Malaysia set in Apple Authorized Resellers.

Locations: https://locate.apple.com/my/en/

Don't go for LL set (USA / Import / whatever the seller claims).

The so called LL / import set / etc - mainboard is original but mostly all other things (screen, button, speaker are OEM).

The quality of original iPhone and iPhone with OEM parts is huge different.

That's why you see many Face ID failed in Mudah/Carousell because the screen has been replaced in non Apple Authorized Service Centre

Even the iPhone battery life can be modified:

2) Don't buy telco set(under contract). Some sellers will claimed their phone already fully paid when signed with contract.
However, contract is 2 years, if the seller doesn't pay his monthly phone bill, the iPhone will still be locked(even the phone is fully paid)

3) How about iPhone MY set with warranty?

If the iPhone(under warranty) screen is cracked, owner decided to repair outside instead of Apple Authorized Service Centre, then the warranty is void(even it's under warranty). And now, the seller sells the iPhone to you claiming the iPhone is still under warranty brows.gif
.
.
Now look at this calculations:

Example:

New iPhone 11 MY set, 128GB - RM3099

So called LL set - RM2600 (depends on seller price)

With extra RM499 - you get peace of mind (1 year Apple Malaysia warranty, 100% battery life)
.
.
If you buy brand new iPhone, you can buy RED colour as:

"Apple dedicates 100% of Product Red eligible proceeds to COVID-19 relief"

That way you can get new iPhone and help in COVID-19. Double the GOODing.

Also if you buy, buy in Senheng/SenQ

They provide extra 1 year warranty(extra 2 years warranty if you are Citibank card holder)

Means your new iPhone comes 2 years/3 years warranty(for Citibank card holder)

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the advise. I've used to buy 2nd hand iphones & running into problems later on, then 1+ ago finally bought a brand new although older model haven't had any issue since then. This article is an eye opener for me.

I bought a few used iPhone before, from 5s to SE 1, from SE 1 to XS. All comes from different countries. No probs at all lol.

Wear and tear is normal but you need to inspect the phone before u purchase. Please don't come here and complain about second-hand phones. Even new phones have defects lol

It all ends in 12. No more OEM no more replacement. You replace the motherboard, the damn phone can't even work properly anymore not like last time

If you buy brand new sealed iphone , won't matter if LL, ZA, ZP or MY set. if LL then got to use charger adapter. personally I prefer imported ZA (Hong Kong) set becoz abit cheaper. biggrin.gif
However for used set better be careful. MY set doesn't mean its safer/better.

If need to buy brand new LOCAL set, better get it from Senheng for good discount + 1 year add. warranty.
I bought my iphone 11 in Dec last year from senheng for RM300 discount + 1 yr. add. warranty rclxm9.gif
