Most of the cases by top brands eg Fractal, Corsair, Cooler Master, Asus, NZXT etc will have dust filters

How effective is it? I mean, say you bought one... How much dust build up will you get in a year compared to other (low quality, or normal) case?

Should be easy, filters are usually removable

The big dust particles will be trapped by the filters

I usually clean the inside every 6-12 months, just a simple wipe will clean the layer of fine dust, can also use a blower / nylon brush to get the dust out from the fans

In all, I would say a very big difference compared to cases with no filters

Lian Li PC-O11 XL & MetallicGear Neo Qube
I'm using both

PC-O11 XL for my gaming PC with 7 x 120MM fans. 3 intake + 4 exhaust
Neo Qube for my home server with 6 x 120MM fans. 3 intake & 3 exhaust

The gaming PC runs 6 - 12 hours per day depending on the day. Sits on a desk
Home sever runs 24-7 for a whole year. Sits on the floor

Neither of these systems has much dust build-up. Just last week I open the Neo Qube to replace some liquid cooling parts, barely any dust inside, even the fans have very little dust. Fans in the home server run at a fixed speed of 1300RPM

Both casings come with filters all around the case but I only use dust filter on the intake. Removed dust filter on exhaust because it's unnecessary

Nice, i'm not planning to use liquid cooling, but how often do you check or clean for dust using your case?

Never. Except when I want to change or upgrade something inside the PC
The home server has been running for 18 months before I decided to upgrade the liquid cooling loop

Barely any dust inside

In most chassis, not matter how well build, there will be dust. It all depends on how much air in and how much air out from the case.
dust filter yes. they do help. The bottom line is how you plan your airflow in a case. basically there are three kinds of set up

Positive airflow = more intake fans (using fan filters)
Negative airflow = more exhaust fans
Balance = equal amount of intake and exhaust (hardest to achieve and takes time to tweak)

with this said, most go for Positive airflow

Even the budget casings come with dust filters nowadays, the ones with magnets are easier to remove for cleaning.
It helps to have the legs/feet of the case abit taller so it sucks up less dust from the bottom(psu).
