I'm thinking to ask car wash to wash my engine bay. I'm also aware some owner after wash engine bay there's some problem with the electronics etc. How do you guys keep the bay clean, where do you recommend to send my cars for these cleaning?

I don't believe in washing the engine bay unless if you have major oil spill after a leaking valve cover gasket. Like Scotty Kilmer said, you don't live under there so don't bother. So much thing can go wrong, the car wash probably won't take responsibility if anything go wrong.

Very true but I've seen other car owners that I've gotten to know over the years has tip top engine bay! I'm not a car person I must say but I do ask myself If I could've paid more attention to it sometimes. There's no leak or anything. Just lots of dirt dust and whatnot

there are both answer for some people as of today but for me, i don't believe in washing engine bay today that is full of electronics and wires inside because they're not gonna be responsible if anything went wrong after they spray their high pressure water to your engine bay, it's solely your problem
if u really wanna clean the engine bay, go to some car detailing shop that offer such service and pay the hefty price for it, it is all hand clean(no high pressure water involved)

Thank you very much i can't tell u where because u have to ask 1 by 1 not every car detailing shop offer such services because it's very labour and time consuming cost start from RM50 and up...the higher end the car detailing, the higher the cost but roughly around there if i remember someone paid for it

I never spray the engine bay, only often wipe it myself with damp cloth every week or so. Sometimes use engine degreaser on just certain sections that have no electrical items, use some tooth/paint brush and just flush those sections carefully with low pressure running water. This way the engine bay never looks too dirty.

That's why I do that every weekend or at least biweekly so it never gets too dirty. Only need like 10-15 mins each time. If never care to do for years then that's why then it becomes filthy hence may take more effort. What is your car actually?

None of them bays were ever washed before. One member from car club had an expensive fix when his car cannot start after engine bay wash with pressure gun..... Car wash owner no fuck. I've asked service center at the curve if they wash they said no....

Getting Started

|
QUOTE(Post-Je-Ape-Ape @ Jan 3 2021, 07:07 PM) No pressure wash at all. Just take your time. What I did was 1) Wipe down with damp cloth all over, remove as much dirt n grime as possible. 2) Go over again but this time with dishwash soap. Same technique, wipe wipe wipe. Take your time, and hard to reach places can use toothbrush. 3) Wait dry. 4) Spray tire wax / interior trim wax on plastic cover and rubber hoses and buff with a clean dry cloth. Try to get as many hoses as possible. More hoses = more shinier. 5) Open your engine bay and let your friends jealous. Done. This post has been edited by Post-Je-Ape-Ape: Jan 3 2021, 07:14 PM
