Dsl or FTTH?

Location?

Subang, FTTH no problem whole day and night.

Subang. This is supposed to be the "best" area already.

And you wouldn't know but there is a big slow down today.

I play a lot of fast speed games where the lag and unstable connection is very noticeable today. Yesterday also. The game server itself is showing me how unstable is my connection. The Ping is alternating intermittently from "a bit ok" to "bad".....all the time.

And disconnections are common. Yesterday also. Disconnect halfway in my game and made me lose the game.

Really terrible ping/latency. Almost all if not all IPs from TM involved.

Is this only affecting TM or others?

Now connection to JP also getting worst doh.gif  30% packet loss for 100 round trip at peak hours
SMW-5 cable to EU will be fixed by 10th March info from TM side. hope everything back to normal.
*
How do you get those TM sources? I ask all those TM "engineers" all the time about this problem with TM connection and ALL of them are so coy.

They either really don't know or they don't want to say anything. Or maybe instructed not to say anything.

But I am glad to see I am not the only one experiencing this TM issue, and it's been going on for some time now.

So only March 10, the issue will be fixed for EU connection?

What about the others?

exact time should be 14th march. but tm say 10th march so just wait and see.

So they expect us to wait for.....20+ days?

Why don't they come out with official statement?

I already made so many case reports about my bad internet connection to them....and they act like they don't know what is wrong/

if they use the excuses for the first one : customer using 3rd party equipment i definitely wont close the mcmc case and open again. Im not fk using the DIR-850L given by TM (useless sucks router which lead me to dc from dual band connection consistently when im joining anything that require massive transfer of the data such as Google Meet , Zoom) , just get a Tenda AC10U and its much better than DIR-850L. and i tested it through my Desktop connected to CAT 6 cable and through one ONU supplied by TM as Internet Switch and then reach ZTE H267A which provided for unifi VDSL2 users from TM

I dun think these 3rd party equipment "will be the problem of getting high latency and packet loss ONLY TO US SERVER". ranting.gif
anyway just wait for the response aka excuses
awaiting them to reply but i expect after 2 month laugh.gif
*
Not just only to US server.

But to EU server also terrible.

I was considering to terminate my Unifi line if this carries on.

But shit, all of the Fiber providers have contract for 2 years. Cannot lah.

With our Bolehland connection quality, you can expect this kind of problem to happen within 2 years or less with ANYONE of them.

Previously I was having with Maxis Fiber and terminated for the same reason as now. Bad quality connection.

Now the irony is if I join Maxis, the connection will be "good" again.

Until the next time this happens.............

Ya bro, if happens 1 hour already problematic for us. I think this issue not occurred for a quite long time, more than 6~8 month and suddenly occur again since last month. Maybe in here I can gather all the details and bring this up so that they can take this as a very serious issue.

Last time im quite depressed with this situation though because it seems like im fighting alone for this issue .

1. They didnt take this serious because minimal user having this issue.
2. Got a few people knows about it but cant do much also, because need 'cable' to connect/contact the insiders to settle this.
3. As far as I remember, I tried also with University servers which having a premium network from TM to let them know, even subscribing premium network also will have this issue.

But since I saw some community here also having this issue and realized about it, I think this is good then. We can provide details for them to fix it seriously.

** Thinking about that too. Because I dont think 'normal user' will get attracted with that issue. And he continued to reply for a quite long time though. But he stopped replied after the issue gone. Haha.
*
So you suggest we all go report to the MCMC about this useless TM Unifi connection?

Anyone still having same problem, where you have to restart your router and modem frequently to get good internet speed???
*
Restart router just means you get a new IP which may be better than your old one.

But this time, it does NOT work. All the IPs are bad now.

All have high latency and ping. Only after 12 or 1 am then you see the congestion suddenly become better....

This is becos many users gone to bed....

The problem is TM Unifi is having a serious problem.

Which they are not acknowledging.

Becos only those with special needs and gamers can see the problem. Most ppl won't care as long as they still get to watch their movies....

Did you reopen the ticket? Reopen and not create new ticket
If no, keep reopening the ticket until they actually fix the issue

The longer the ticket is opened, the higher the possibility of the ticket being raised to their higher management and at that point of time where the customer service department will be chewed by their higher management & SKMM
*
I dunno who is speaking the truth. They claim "nobody" making reports to them about their connection issue and only me.

I have been making so many reports to them since the problem began about over 2 weeks ago.

If they speaking the truth, of course lah....typical bodoh Malaysians never report and only know how to complain here.

If they are lying, then yeah, TM Unifi clearly showing RELUCTANCE to FIX this issue!

Not intentionally trying to be rude with this remark, if an ISP requires its subscribers to top up their lines with VPNs as a MUST to get good satisfactory connections elsewhere outside Malaysia and within Asia region then it shouldn't be charging among the HIGHEST subscription rates to Malaysians.

Just use a SIMPLISTIC one hop approach like Allo CBB to NTT America as its upstream route and be settled with it?

Like that less headache and complexity in managing the network. Fees can be lowered down to say RM50 for 1Gbps/500Mbps a month but speeds only good to say SG/HK?

Let the customers manage their own routing paths from SG instead with their own VPNs to their desired destinations they want to connect.

I think all ISPs in Malaysia use this lazy and irresponsible excuse to answer their customers.

"We don't guarantee speeds outside our own Malaysian in-house speedtest servers"

Truly SLOTHFUL and SHAMELESS attitude.

Then why charge so expensive if your network can only guarantee speeds to local servers? Attitude like that we shouldn't be even paying more than RM50/mth for a full shared 1Gbps port rate which is only between your CPE and the OLT Switch at the exchange.
*
What VPN you recommend if I want to connect to EU server?

I'm trying to AVOID using VPN so far......also no experience here.

But considering on a month by month basis if TMshit cannot resolve this current issue.

If you talk about PEAK traffic, we were already at peak during the last quarter months back in 2020 when many were not in schools and people were already working at home.

Now it's even WORST than back then.

I'm not thinking too much, it's just very suspicious about this SUDDEN surge in bandwidth demand happening.
*
Yes it happened very suddenly.

I think around Feb 17 if not mistaken.

This is very suspicious.....

Finally have progress...
Hopefully this can temporary fix the problem. As long as US connection recover to normal level, most online service can be access without big issue.
*
I also lah. They ask me to provide them with pingplotter screenshots, and will give to their network dept.

I am not hopeful at all until I actually see the connection quality revert back to like before.

Becos staying here so long, surely you all also know how low this country standard is, and how they go about doing anything.

If you alls are lazy, only know how to complain on social media or forum, don't make report and keep on pressure them, they will goyang kaki until forever.

They even told me I am the only one reporting this issue.

Now peak time, the connection is really BAD. And today they called me and said their network dept said "no problem".

Basically after sending them all the pingplotter screenshots, they still DENY they have a BIG ISSUE.

This mentality is what you all are (or will) deal with..............

Since I am seeing so many interested in Unifi here.....

Don't know much about network stuff, but this could be a sign their network is VERY CONGESTED right now. I am seeing a slowdown and high latency on my regular gaming site. If you go back 10 pages on this thread, this has been going on for almost 3 weeks now. Started around Feb 17.

And they are not even acknowledging the problem.

Has the Unifi routing been fixed already?

I am seeing improved connection to EU server since yesterday. Even during peak time, it was not as bad as this past few weeks.

But then again I am only using a certain IP which I maintain by not switching off my modem/router. I "found" a good IP since abput 1 week ago and then I never switched off my router/modem. It was still bad during peak hours but the best of the lot......

The real test is whether other IPs also have returned to "normal".

Guys, Unifi is blocking a lot of websites now. Actually all the Malaysian telcos are doing this now (more or less) and it started back maybe less than 2 months ago.

Even a health products website like iHerb.com is blocked by Unifi (their Malaysia version). iHerb has the cheapest vitamins and minerals and herbs you can get anywhere (in the world).

Confirmed already by iHerb thru email.
