So if I'm using Evaluative Metering Mode, I know by locking the focus of the subject first, then move to where u want to subject to be in the frame, but in Spot Metering Mode, I can't seem to do that, when I locked the subject, and I move to recompose it, the subject of focus loses the purpose of Spot Metering, any tips ? So technically for me I must always make sure the subject is in the center of the frame, only then Spot Metering works.

Metering is just to check the exposure it not impact on focus. You should use AF lock to make sure the focusing not move only do the focus recompose.

For most accurate focus recompose, using the center AF point or Cross Type AF point

Oh i see, so do u mean that I just have to do the usual half-press shuttle button to lock focus of the subject, and then as usual move to where I want the subject to be in the frame ? The metering effect will still be in place once the subject is locked in focus by half-pressing ?

Ya. Once half press, focus and exposure will locked. Recommend using back button focus button if you want use the Focus recompose.

If you on P, S(Tv) or A mode, metering will adjust the exposure. When on M mode metering no impact(unless you use auto ISO).

Should you put AE lock to recompose?
