Looking for laptop for tuition class teacher

Usage: Zoom class, powerpoint, text editing, browsing

Budget: RM2000-RM2500

Current list I have:

1) Used MacBook Pro (2014/2015)

2) Used Surface Pro (mainly because of the pen function)

Do you think Surface Pro will last? I know MacBook Pro is very durable(as I am using one)

Used Surface Pro got reliability issue or not?

Some people might suggest go get new laptop (Lenovo or Acer), it is under my consideration also.

Any comment?

Avoid Surface Pros due to a lack of repairability/serviceability, those are basically disposable machines as you won't be able to easily open up and service the machine if you need to replace a certain part, like the batteries (depending on the age of the machine, the batteries may have worn down and might not hold as much charge anymore) icon_idea.gif

Software (i.e. firmware) issues are commonplace on Surface machines, so you might not want to get one icon_idea.gif

Might be a good idea, but do note that you have no/little serviceability of those machines, so do keep that in mind icon_idea.gif

I'd recommend you to buy a refurbished (or lightly used) business grade laptops like those Lenovo Thinkpads/Dell Latitudes if you can - those are better built than some consumer ones, and depending on the range most of them are designed to be easily serviceable too icon_idea.gif

Skip the Surface Pro if you need to use more than 2-3 USB ports. Yes you can use USB hub, but it's not convenience to bring in and out.

I recommend a new Dell Inspiron 3505 (AMD) or 3501 (Intel).

Thirded, the Acer Aspire 3. Bought this for my partner's birthday and she loves it. Easy on the wallet too! She works as Virtual assistant and same like you she using it for Zoom meetings, powerpoint, text editing, browsing.
