After many hours of research, I decided to get Steelcase Leap v2. HM Aeron was on my list but it’s double the price and I’m just not sure if it’s twice as good.
It’s a gamble buying without trying to sit on the chair due to this EMCO. I just couldn’t stand this back pain anymore. Hopefully the chair lives up to the good reviews I have read.

QUOTE(Klesk @ Jul 7 2021, 09:06 PM) Total was RM3.3k including RM168 shipping. Delivery was surprisingly fast even though it's EMCO period. The price is quite ok I guess considering it's selling for ~USD1k in the US.

QUOTE(ntc3freak @ Jul 11 2021, 12:24 PM) What's the best deal for Steelcase Leap v2? I saw on first page that can get for 1.5k with promo, but best I've seen in this thread is buy 1 get 1 free for around 5k. I had a chat with someone from Zenpro before buying the Leap V2. The RM5k for 2 promotion had ended a few months ago. No idea on RM1.5k promo - seems like a steal at that price, maybe it's a corporate price. Check out second hands on Carousell too if you don't mind used chairs. This post has been edited by un.deux.trois: Jul 11 2021, 04:09 PM

QUOTE(Jason244 @ Aug 12 2021, 09:38 PM) I do contact zenpro facebook yesterday but they told me can buy from this website www.ely.com.my, which cost RM 3.4k with headrest and is out of stock. I managed to buy one from them 2 months ago for around 3.1k (plus shipping is around 3.3k). They did say that price would increase beginning this month when I asked them.

QUOTE(Exoflare @ Aug 22 2021, 09:43 AM) Yeah! It’s a collection of three partners with names E L and Y. L came by to my house yesterday to help me remove the Steelcase Leap headrest, which I will maintain till the end of time is the worst headrest in the world but once removed gives rise to one of the finest chairs on the planet 😂 In case anyone’s interested to see what the inside of a Steelcase Leap looks like, it seriously looks like the chair has a face. PS: Join my ergonomic chair group! Also, if you are interested, I am talking to a few people who might be interested to buy Steelcase chairs, so just let me know via DM if you’re interested and I may be able to get you a group rate (no promises though!) You can also access Steelcase Malaysia’s online store (not Shopee - also allows you to make use of their FREE MERDEKA SHIPPING PROMOTION) here.Did you remove the adjustable lumbar support too? I found the chair to be more comfortable after removing it.

QUOTE(Exoflare @ Aug 22 2021, 06:57 PM) Oh no I didn’t! You don’t like the adjustable lumbar support? I find that to be one of the hugest selling points of the chair tbh xD The headrest no way that thing is a disaster… Got us a few laughs and was an interesting networking opportunity though! Honestly my Steelcase purchase was unique all the way through - bought the thing, GDEX stole the chair that was supposed to be shipped to me (or lost it along the way) despite the fact that I paid close to 200 in shipping (which shows you just how valuable the free shipping promo is), and ELY actually sent me a new one because I put on my angry customer face and demanded that they send by the date itself, so they basically sucked it up and sent one via Lalamove, then came the headrest issue. I’m probably their most problematic customer to date, so if ever you want to talk to any of the ELY people, you can ask them about my strange tale and they’ll know what’s up 👌 I didn't mind the adjustable lumbar support but many reviewers said that the chair was more comfortable without it. So I took the trouble removing it to see what it'd be like. I liked it so much that I will not put the lumbar support back in.

QUOTE(lamode @ Sep 8 2021, 01:09 PM) Just got it, and so far so good. With only fan and without aircon, I would say little hot, but bearable. Found a sticker underneath the seat pad, it says made in malaysia, photo a bit blur. Steelcase has a factory in Puchong if I'm not mistaken. Btw if you find the back support to be harsh, you can remove the adjustable lumbar support. I removed it from my chair after reading many reviews saying the chair is better without the adjustable lumbar support. This post has been edited by un.deux.trois: Sep 8 2021, 03:15 PM

Just noticed Steelcase Leap sold by ELY is now about RM600 more expensive than when I bought it last July. They did say at the time I contacted them that price was expected to increase. Glad I pulled the trigger back then.

Tested the latest Ikea gaming chairs this afternoon. I would say the back support is lacking.

QUOTE(zzzz52 @ May 18 2023, 03:38 PM) Just managed to try out the Steelcase Leap in Penang Island and I bought it with the headrest option. It is super comfortable and the support from the chair is great. It is like the chair is "hugging" you. And at my height of ~174cm, the headrest was just nice to support my neck. As for the Gesture, I'm not sure how to put it, but it just feels more comfortable sitting in the leap. Anyway, no chance to try any HM chair in Penang afaik. And I got to know as well that Intel Penang did supply their WFM employees previously with the Steelcase Series 2 and for employees with back issue, the Leap. Now, waiting for payment and delivery. lolx What’s the price? I recommend you remove the plastic lumbar support if you find the back support too aggressive. I removed it from mine and it was even more comfortable.

QUOTE(zzzz52 @ May 20 2023, 02:07 AM) I got it for RM3.8K, reasonable? I will try that when I receive it. generally I do like some good lumbar supporr. That’s cheaper than ELY who’s selling it for RM4.8k on Shopee. Which shop did you buy it from?

QUOTE(crixalisrox @ Mar 7 2024, 09:34 PM) Any idea where to repair HM chair? I think the needed part is called hip pivot bolt. Possible to find this in Malaysia ? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Have you tried asking TRAX Furniture? They are an authorised dealer of HM chairs in Malaysia.

I got a used Haworth Zody with leather cover for less than RM500 recently. The chair was in better condition than my 3 year-old Steelcase Leap at home. Very pleased with it so far. I like it better than the Haworth Soji at my office.
