Hello all,

i am looking for an office chair for my wife. She's like sitting on it for 12 hours daily. no joke.

i see a lot of people are recommending HM Aeron. RM6,100 is really out of my budget.

i am looking a more affordable Steelcase Gesture. Saw it selling at Lazada for RM4,200.00

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/ely-stee..._BoC9mIQAvD_BwE

anyone using this chair before? any review?

It's better try in the showroom before buying such an expensive chair. That sort of highly curved back will only suit certain people. If your body type isn't suitable you will find it very uncomfortable.

suppose to be a surprise for my wife.

will visit the showroom and get a feel of it.

any suggestion besides these two Steelcase and HM?

yeah i saw that too. but 5k without head rest is really way out of my budget.

i started with 1.2k then as i read it make sense to get a really good one. after all will be sitting on it close to 12 hours a day so i guess my max budget is maybe 4.2k. that same as my mattress.. lol

Yes i agree. Also do more research on it, especially Steelcase is also about RM4K.
Steelcase Gesture even for people in living in 4 seasons complain that it's a very warm chair.
Unless you can constantly maintain your room temperature about 25 degrees and below.
Also Steelcase Gesture is more suitable for taller people. Please read them up yeah.

really?? wife only 160cm

How about the Merryfair Tune? It's very adjustable for RM1100. I'm sure your wife can find a good position.

Note: I haven't purchased this yet, just considering.

I would highly recommend the steelcase leap instead of gesture, dont get the headrest (its rlly bad), suits shorter people as well, extra lumber would be optional imo (i bought it and found that removing it was better, only rm few hundred diff so you can buy and test or try in showroom)

As for the debate on headrests, there's a reason why herman miller themselves dont make headrests for their office chairs (aeron, embody), this is because when your sitting upright, a good ergo chair shouldnt need a headrest because naturally when your upright, your head can be supported comfortably by your body. A headrest is only need when your reclining for long periods, coz your head is off axis from your body. However, if youre working, you (in theory) should not need to recline for long periods anyways.
*
i saw some video in youtube. the gesture does not have a movable back support where else the leap has it. in term of aesthetic gesture win.

called steelcase they said leap will only come with head rest. they can custom make and import for me but it will be more expensive.they pretty much buy in bulk and sell it here.

Price wise its Rm400 difference.

unfortunately their showroom is close for now. i would really want to get it while the rod is hot.

i am also looking at TRULY Ergonomic Chair - RM3200.

Yeah agree, the Ikea Markus headrest sucks. Got try neck pillow to rest ur neck and head, or butt cushion/pillow to raise ur height to reach the headrest? Thought of trying.

How about jaervfjaellet? It has adjustable headrest. Will it solve the problem, or the headrest can only go up, not down?
In what way? But Gesture and Leap should have similar back
Gesture more suitable for taller people? Why? Its not like Markus where its so highback. The back of the Gesture isnt very high and big like the Markus.

The Gesture is more warmer than Markus?
What if want to recline and rest/watch movie/play game? Sucks la if no headrest. If work in office understandable la. But if work at home and sometimes want lean back and chill ma..
Will only come with headrest? Or you mean without?

Import? I thought they have factory here
*
i think they only bring in bulk....so some item this will not bring in. yes comes with head rest.

i saw somewhere they have a promotion 2 for rm5000 but that was beginning of the year. hoping that they still have though i doubt it.

anyway they will only be open mid september.. for the price, i would decently want to try it out first

no comment on truly, but yea, if can wait a while def trying in showroom would be better. just wanted to add if your really set on gesture, make sure you try it first coz i saw some reviews online saying its not good for short people.
*
not really set on it yet. but for a RM4,000 chair for sure i will try it at the showroom. Perhaps while waiting for the showroom to open will look into other options as well..

this thread has been rather helpful...

Lol I was quoting multiple messages, so when u quote me back, it looked random.

Yeah I have Markus, but asian height, so the neck cant reach the headrest, same as you. Thats why researching around also, preferably with headrest.

The Leap v2 headrest not so good as it pushes the neck forward, if not I already choose it. Thats the only con in my opinion. I need headrest, sometimes want rest my head and lean back while gaming/watch video/thinking, etc.
Aeron quite expensive, cant sit cross-legged, mesh might not suit me. Then the Gesture I heard its quite warm, the back support may be too much, and the thighs part there I heard can block off circulation also..I guess depends on type of body.
I read that the Leap v2 headrest isnt good by the way
*
yeah. that's what i heard. but no choice it comes with it. anyway will only know after i try it out in 2 weeks time. assuming that is even possible.

might be getting the Series 2 as well

FYI I also wrote to Ebica(Penang) for a quote on their Steelcase chair. they were gracious enough to give me a complete quote.
They have more options, can opt for without head rest and different colours.

Steelcase Leap Group Buy

Hi! Yesterday a few people messaged me to ask about a group buy for the Steelcase Leap from ELY.

I’m trying to coordinate a bit, and we’ve got two people so far who would like to buy when the Leap comes back into stock. Good chance that you can get the unit price to go from 3500 to a lower price (subject to negotiation) if there are enough people buying smile.gif

If you’d like to join the group buy, do join this group and post within - the group is growing (82 members and counting), and that does also open up possibilities if you want to coordinate group buy for other chairs later on your own initiative.

Thanks!

Hi i am interested but do not have FB.

however i find the RM3,500 not too appealing. right now they are selling RM37xx. Without Headrest around Rm32xx.00

hopefully can buy at RM5,000 for 2.

but still need to test it.

Wow, that is even cheaper than the one I bought from ELY. Does it came with all the options like the headrest, 3d microknit with lumbar support? If it is that is damn good already.
I was reluctant to buy one due to aquamarine color, afraid that I have to spent too much time taking care of it.
*
my earlier statement was rather misleading. The quote was not from ELY. Sorry about it.

how is your series 2 holding on? I really want to get the chair soon, unfortunately all the showroom are close. I even called the factory at Puchong.

Don't want to get such expensive chair without first testing it.

Finally decided to order Steelcase Leap after some unpleasant surprises  sweat.gif  cry.gif
While many have had good experience with ZenPro / ELY, mine was completely opposite, their business ethics is in question as misleading info was provided to deceive me.
For info sharing and awareness, there is another authorized dealer/agent in MY. https://www.steelcase.com/countries/malaysia/
12 years warranty is a long time, and I want to have peace of mind and get it from a company I can trust and rely on.
Initially I was quoted 3.4k for Leap without headrest, but manage to nego down little bit, I am looking forward to be receiving it by coming Friday.  brows.gif

all black ? you make me want to buy now without testing lol...

I can provide some insight onto this as I actually spoke with EBIBCA earlier, though I still don't exactly know the capital T truth.
In the course of an hour and a half call, EBIBCA mentioned to me that they're not *listed* as an "official" dealer and mentioned oversight on the part of the people who maintain the site but also declared that they are not after title/position and also mentioned they were selling Steelcase before ZenPro/ELY; ZenPro/ELY when I followed up on Leon's issue told me that EBIBCA is only an agent. EBIBCA in one of the most unique calls I've experienced on the planet explained that they are "not 100% under ZenPro" and frankly I'm still a bit lost here about exactly how they are related it is a complicated relationship, but am aware that they all do respond to their principal (Steelcase).

Broadly speaking, EBIBCA is meant to cover the North, and ELY is to cover the South, and they are at peace and in an equilibrium (are they?). You can try to figure out the truth if you want to become an investigative journalist, but for me I guess it'll be more of a... Oh if you find out by accident that's cool let's not ask any further type thing LOL.

I think indent order is possible, but takes a while and probably there won't be discounts - for Leap they do have black in stock with headrest; feel free to join the group chat here:

I think, we should stop this Ebibca and ELY discussion. To me it's not relevant and can get polarizing and basically he say, she say. facts of the matter is Ebibca and ELY are listed in Steelcase official website. https://www.steelcase.com/countries/malaysia/

Most important to us, is the price and support by each company. Once we buy from either one, we are covered by Steelcase(i hope..hahaha)

Just got it, and so far so good.
With only fan and without aircon, I would say little hot, but bearable.

Found a sticker underneath the seat pad, it says made in malaysia, photo a bit blur.

Was comparing real hard between Merryfair and Alterseat due to the warranty. Merryfair 5 years warranty on the chair mechanism but not include wear and tear of cushion and sunken seat. However Alterseat cover these and its 10 years warranty somemore. I was quite surprised that Alterseat covered even wear and tear.

in the end, i chose Anggun as the WhatsApp customer care contact gave me additional 20% discount. So i got the chair with headrest at RM528, which i think it's a pretty good deal. Furthermore, i will be using this at home, not office. WFH will probably be temporary and at most until mid of 2021, so the chair will most likely be in good condition even after 5 years. Another plus is the design which i quite like the honey orange cushion and grey mesh compared to all black office chair design tongue.gif

chair will arrive in 10 days, hopefully it will be a good one. will update again by then. icon_rolleyes.gif

OK Guys I just received my ANGGUN egornomic chair from Merryfair.
I added RM50/- for optional base of diecast alluminium alloy material.
1. The chair looks nice and solid.
2. The adjustable lumbar looks and feels good. So far, no issue.
3. The adjustable hand rest for the updown movement looks cheapo. This is because I have used a better adjustable arm rest chairs in office. But, this is not an issue to me, because I seldom play with this arm rest setting once set up.
4. Overall it is worth my money.
No regrets. I think it is a reliable chair, we shall see.
5. Aftersales support and communication is great.
Once order confirmed, they will communicate with you on whatsapp.
Very fast and responsible response.

I am 165cm, and I bought the high-back version.
Total damage: RM628/= (Inclusive delivery - from KL - Ktn )

Hi. Do you still have the contact of Merryfair? thought of whatsapping them. hopefully they still have the 20% discount. thanks

Just go their official website. There's a WhatsApp icon there. Click on it and u will be talking to their CS. Just ask them if there's any discount available...

I bought this few months back, so not sure if they are still running any promo now....

Good luck.

thanks

yeah, problem with the WhatsApp icon is that when i click it, it will say my no whatsapp detected in my phone and ask me to install. anyway i saw your later post with the phone number. contacting them now. quoted me RM560 but not sure with or without head rest. also quite a long waiting period. delivery only in early oct.

am thinking if i should just go with ELY Trendy.
