Hi guys, would appreciate some help with deciding on a PSU for the following specs:-

CPU : Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: GTX 1070 (to be upgraded sometime next year)
MOBO : MSI B550m Mortar.

I've seen the following recommended so far :-
CORSAIR CV650
MWE Bronze v2
Super flower leadex III bronze
SUPERFLOWER Legion GX Pro 80 Plus Gold Semi Modular
super flower silver eco 600W

Are there any other safe and reputable brands for the 650w around RM350 and below range.

Do you mean the Leadex III gold? That one is significantly more expensive than the rest.

Any superflower PSU is good to go. They are few of the top PSU maker.
As for corsair they source their supplier everywhere so if I were you I would not pay for that extra cost.

I've been leaning towards Super Flower myself. However a little confused about the different models that they have. All seem to be around the same price range for the ones I'm looking at and I cant tell the difference between the Legion, Silver Eco and Leadex Bronze rclxub.gif

May even just stick with the Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 to save the headache. Cheaper also lol

If you plan to upgrade to 3080 and above, you need to get a more expensive PSU.

I probably would say the Segotep GP-G/P/T series, but that one appears to be EOL'ed by the distributor (need to ask distributor for confirmation)? sweat.gif
myway1985

If that's the case I'm leaning towards the Leadex III Bronze, as the Legion GX/HX are essentially a retooled version of their older Golden King units (may need someone knowledgeable about PSUs to confirm this) hmm.gif

Not all Super Flower PSUs are good though, there are plenty of Super Flower units sold in the Korean/Chinese markets that perform badly (and in some cases out of the permitted ATX spec) sweat.gif

Not sure about that but most of superflower PSU are real 80 plus certified, while many other might just claim instead of 80 plus certified. Hence, it still safer buy without looking into internal parts.

Not sure who made the CM WME for cooler master so can't comment without looking into the internal parts.

The superflower leadex III bronze should be old certification which is based on 110V. The new certification will state 230V EU if it is based on 230V. The leadex III bronze should just as good as the new leadex III silver for the price range.

Of course the more expensive is always better if budget allow. Btw, most PSU efficiency works best between 40 to 80 utilisation. So sometimes is better to get lower wattage if you don't plan for power hunger build.

Yeah at the moment I'm leaning towards the Leadex III Bronze as well. Still thinking if its worth considering Silverstone Essential Gold 650W 80PLUS GOLD (RM309) or FSP 650W HYDRO GD 80+ GOLD (RM330) or Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze V2 PSU, 230V, (RM239).

The CM MWE v2 Bronze seems much cheaper than the other 2.

Thanks for the reply. Ive seen a few people suggest the Leadex III bronze so that will be top of my list for now. I planned on the 650w just to be a little future proof

A lot of those low quality ones are not sold here, so don't worry - but if you want a list, here it is:

Super Flower Mega: https://coolenjoy.net/bbs/review/670979?sfl...rflower&sop=and (poor 3.3/5V voltage regulation, old platform, made by CWT: https://blog.naver.com/wls4698/221504897528 )

Eco Bronze King: https://coolenjoy.net/bbs/review/650156?sfl...rflower&sop=and (almost out of spec voltage regulation on the 3.3/5V rail, group regulated platform)

Those are only sold in limited markets such as South Korea and China, and to a lesser extent the Thai market icon_idea.gif

Ooh good to know they aren't part of the listings here, thank you!

Think I'll go for the leadex III bronze 650W. A little pricier than the others I've listed but quite a few people have suggested it. Reading reviews all over now lol

laugh.gif My bad then tongue.gif

Anyway I think the Segotep GP700P should be a good one, or alternatively the Leadex III Bronze as well icon_idea.gif
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/segotep-...Y2TuzI&search=1

Edited about the Segotep variants, as the Teapo ones belong to an EOL'ed, double forward variant icon_idea.gif

The new ones use CapXon caps, and uses modern LLC+DC-DC designs icon_idea.gif

Note that there are two variants of the GP700P, one of which is a white colored one like this:
https://product.pconline.com.cn/pdlib/59006...ure9922722.html

This is meant for the Chinese market, and uses CapXon caps icon_idea.gif
The black colored one (which is meant for the export market) uses Teapo caps, rather than CapXons in the white colored one:

Doing PSU research is tricky, though sweat.gif

Way too many variants and need to scour the Chinese/Korean interwebs just to find a proper review for those units sweat.gif

Tell me about it. I've spent about 15 hours of my christmas leave just comparing PSUs. Whats worse is that even narrowing down to the same brand (Super flower) doesn't particularly help when they have numerous models around the same price without a discernible difference to a lay person like myself

Yeah, finding good PSUs here is tricky considering they are not sold elsewhere and very few wants to make a review on it (and it's hard to review them as you need expensive equipment and decent knowledge on PSUs just to review one) sweat.gif

Still the Segotep GP-T/Leadex III are the best ones out there, with the Segotep one being a Tier B+ unit:

It doesn't really matter that the Leadex III is the bronze variety right? I see almost all reviews are for the Leadex III gold.

It's a different unit, and is a Tier B (low priority, due to lack of reviews) unit according to the LTT PSU tier list icon_idea.gif

Although it should be fine (modern topology + Japanese main capacitors, and usually Super Flower tends to use fairly high quality components in their units) icon_idea.gif

Speaking about cases, just make sure you avoid anything with a solid front panel tongue.gif

Always buy something with a front mesh panel (Gamers Nexus often advises users to go for a mesh front panel case, due to much better thermal performance over the solid ones) icon_idea.gif

Thanks, already read the reddit one a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately not many replies to that post.

Just half an hour of watching reviews and already there are quite a few highly rated ones :- Phanteks 400a, Lancool 215, Corsaid 4000D. Nobody seems to be mentioning the montech though unfortunately.

There's also the P300A too icon_idea.gif

Montech is not a very well known case maker, so that's why there's so little reviews out there, but it's cheap and performs well, so there's not something you should worry too much about tongue.gif

Ooh good to know. Was hesitant seeing so little reviews about the montech, will take your word on it!

Thanks again my friend, you've been a great help with this. Will be going for the Leadex III bronze and montech (most likely) due to your endorsement. Anything goes wrong, I'm gonna come find you rofl
