Every game has this service implemented differently, because of this you will need to refer to each games instruction booklet to find out how to use that particular games online features. The instructions below will assist you in getting your home ready to support DS online play.
1. First you need High Speed Internet (Streamyx, Maxis 3G,Wifi, ETC) 2. You need to purchase a wireless router that is either 802.11B or 802.11G. (if you don't know what that is, just go get a Wifi connector such as Wifi Link or Wifi Max or Nintendo Wifi Doggle) 3. Install the connector or router according to their instruction. 4. Boot up your DS, follow the instruction from your booklet. And you are good to go. I am not going for the wireless router one, since I have already got a LAN connection with a few pc connected to via cables. "Wifi Link or Wifi Max or Nintendo Wifi Doggle" How much do these item cost usually? All price in RM format please, thanks!

Nintendo Wifi Dongle isn't cheap last time I checked some shops are selling for around $150 and above, with that price can almost get a nice Wireless router already. Also heard a lot of bad things about Wifi MAX ( The same company who produced Action Replay cheat devices) some says is a lot of hassle to set up. Seriously would recommend a wireless router instead since you will get better range with it and some are even flashable with third party firmwares but if you insist I would recommend a third party wireless dongle from Planex if Im not mistaken you can get them for below $100 in LYP. I would suggest against getting Planex because a fellow forumer have been having quite a significant amount of problem setting it up, reason might be due to his desktop but it was unlikely. I would instead suggest that you get the below listed USB Wifi Dongle. Listed from Cheapest to most expensive Wifi Link RM102Wifi Max RM124Hori Wifi USB RM138Nintendo Wi-Fi USB (Official) RM160I am currently using Wifi Link. It is easy to set up. only requires you to install the driver, plug and play.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will get that Planex one, for it being the cheapest. I also found this, very useful stuff, I shouldn't have problem setting it up. This post has been edited by Kellicros: Aug 21 2007, 02:31 AM

QUOTE(reveur @ Aug 20 2007, 10:01 PM) I am currently using Wifi Link. It is easy to set up. only requires you to install the driver, plug and play. just curious....hows Wifi Link's peformance if we use it for a laptop, instead of console....(i.e. Wifi Link connect to a internet-enable PC, then use laptop to access it)? thx!

I still personally prefer using a stand-alone wireless Access Point. These things are dirt cheap(almost the same price as those USB thingamajig) nowadays, except they don't need your PC to be on all the time(thus saving energy) and creates an 802.11 network for all devices for your home.
Like maybe a friend comes over with a PDA or laptop, you can go "oh yeah i have wifi, you can check your email if you want". It's just convenient.
Though... they're a bit difficult to find. Most wireless hardware sold are also modems or routers or a combination of both. Stand alone access points are much cheaper than those.

IMO, Wireless Router is a better solution, and it's cheaper by RM. esp if your household got more than 1 wireless users/gadgets.

It's best to go for a wireless router, so that you won't face any trouble if you use the Wifi Dongle.

QUOTE(HMMaster @ Oct 21 2007, 01:30 PM) yes, setup is pretty troublesome but once you know what should be done, it is not too bad. My only complain is its coverage, you have to stay close to your PC and connection becomes dodgy when get too far. But I am not to sure if it is my NDSL or the donggle, my friend's Laptop is able to pick up full bars signal from it in my living room whiles the ds only gets 1/3 red >.<. PC is in my bedroom. P.S. If you are getting it, after you got drivers set up properly, make sure you go to your new Wireless Network Connection and key in the IP's manually, then go enable DCHP in internet connection sharing of your LAN connection. EDIT: one last thing, it gets extremely hot when it is used! I have a feeling that it is going to explode if I use it 24/7. But this is normal even with Nintendo's official wifi dongle. Actually if you plan to get those dongles that are over RM130, I suggest you to get a wifi routers with lan ports instead, my friend just got one from D-Link at RM130, and it works perfectly with my DS. Then again, you will need a ADSL modem separately, but you already have that don't you?
