Just got a new Sony x90h, and i tried connecting my yamaha ysp 2500 soundbar to the tv using the ARC port with hdmi and it doesnt work! Work first time during setup then after switch off tv and switch on again, the soundbar stops responding to the tv. Tested HDMI cable and soundbar on previous samsung tv with same hdmi cable and it works (switch on tv, soundbar switch on, etc). Reset the tv 2 times dy, always only works at the initial boot after switch off tv and switch on again stops working. Unplug plug back in no response. Also bought hdmi 2.1 port just to test but still no luck. Anyone got experience? Or must claim warranty rclxub.gif

Sony TVs tend to have issues with ARC when there are other HDMI CEC devices connect to the HDMI input. The most common one is the Unifi tvbox (white color). I also face this issue with Nintendo switch.
You can try to unplug all HDMI input devices to the TV and plug in one by one to see which devices is causing the problem.

Yup, came to say that this has been the problem, currently im using 2 hdmi ports (1 arc and 1 astro) and i found out yesterday that if the astro box is on while tv is off, the ARC connection doesnt work. So every time switch on the tv must make sure astro is off etc. But yea thanks for the info! Would have been really helpful if i didnt manage to find out the solution thumbup.gif

Little disappointed that even astro's newest ultra box is not HDMI CEC compatible, but switching off Astro manually every time isnt THAT bad also

I'm using X80h. Connected to my Sony home theater setup. First hdmi port no sound, second port also no sound. Then changed to 3rd port only can get sound.

For the X90H/XH90/X9000H model, the ARC/eARC support is only on HDMI port 3. There is also a Dec 2020 firmware update for eARC, 4k@120Hz, Apple TV.

The design decision has been like this since the first-gen 2015 4K UHD Bravia Android TV.

For the HDMI 2.1 connectivity, it is only available on HDMI port 3 and 4. The rest of the HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0.

To capitalize 4K@120Hz support with PS5, you need an Ultra HDMI cable.

However, if your AV receiver is just is using HDMI 2.0 ARC feature, it won't get the benefit of eARC just only ARC from this HDMI 2.1 port 3, because the HDMI 2.0 connection is limiting the bandwidth/capability needed to achieve HDMI 2.1 eARC feature even if you have the Ultra HDMI cable. https://www.whathifi.com/advice/hdmi-arc-an...ou-need-to-know

You can try to get those CEC-less hdmi cable which is expensive. Or get a cheap connector/cable and manually break the CEC pin. Works for me on Unifi tvbox n Nintendo switch.

No luck.. Try on the TV first, then on sound bar and astro afterward. Still will have the communication error. Give up, change back to optical cable 😅. If without astro, then everything work fine...
