something i doing wrong?
i was cloning HDD to SSD,
insert SSD, initialize disk on disk management, without create partition
use Macrium Reflect clone, hidden system partition and windows partition
then fully shutdown windows, set SSD 1st boot,
but pc cannot boot, cannot found device to boot, insert boot mdeia and press any key

disk 0 current HDD, i just clone 3 partition, as disk E i still need acces, so no clone it
new SSD is disk 2

Does not auto clone it?  So need boot to recovery, or sometime PE to make as boot?
As know windows will auto create partition, 100MB and 517MB is windows auto create one

yeah, i had phobia for dead HDD too, hence i wont even dare to touch Seagate HDD lol

i haven't really tried dram-less SSD.
i could just stick with 870 QVO since it still have dram, and price is same as those dram-less SSD

EDIT:- One review on Amazon says it's basically the same internals as the Crucial MX500 4TB drive. Wow, makes me a bit more confident to buy now.

i think this bug affects more than that. i have read user comments that stated the os boot time became longer than two minutes. this is just bad. who would have guessed that after so many years, when we are already used to under 30-sec boot (even with sata ssds), we are back again to the era of hdd boot time.

PNY, ADATA and even Kingston(unless its cheapo media) are brands I would keep away for their tendency to steeply downgrade memory parts with drastic performance hits.

for back up, i always get additional HDD.
nowadays i just Toshiba canvio, my first canvio lasted really long iirc, it just recently died.

SSD can be costly and if i have to choose, i'd get Samsung only, second would be sandisk and kioxia.

And for general misconception of slow HDD transfer rate, the issue can be mitigated by enable write caching,
but it's very tricky to set up external HDD with write caching enabled because it's disabled by default, and you have to enable safety removal due to the write caching.
downside are:
1. shutdown PC may be slow due to windows last min write data to disk   
2. need combination of chipset drivers, usb hub to get it work...
3. caching might stop working if windows update screwed up   

for disk to disk copy i can manage to achieve 300MB/s (because copied to RAM first, write later, aka write caching.)

my answer above is mainly about data safety if you always carry the portable storage around. that's when shits usually happen.

luckily, speed is usually not an issue to me, be it hdd or ssd, as external/portable storage. as long as data is safe and intact, i'm fine haha

i converted old machines for download and storage. i turn them on only when i want to hehe

i had bad incidents with hdds too. that's why i have full-ssd setup for my laptops since years ago. coupled with regular incremental backups, it's all good so far.

tbh, data backups saved me countless times. it's good to make it a habit.

nas is fine haha we all have different use cases and practices, so just do what you see fit.

these days, even so-called good brands cannot guarantee anything about their products. hence just get the ones you want, and hope for the best haha (overexaggerating, but that's what i thought)

Oh no wonder I haven't been able to find any MX500s.. I am using 8 of them in a RAID5 array in my NAS. Have one cold spare. Trying to get some WD Reds now. That and better backup my NAS soon.
