Help need.

Just bought T7 Samsung 2TB but transfer speed is 32mb in win10 with
thunderbolt port. How to increase  speed for the file transfer?
*
32 MBps (Megabytes per second)?
Anyway Samsung T7 is not Thunderbolt right? Only USB3 10Gbps.

How much was your T7 ?

6 Answers. Show activity on this post. It is faster to transfer a single large file instead of lots of little files because of the overhead of negotiating the transfer. The negotiation is done for each file, so transferring a single file it needs to be done once, transferring n files means it needs to be done n times.

to check the authenticity of the product, can use samsung magician
https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/magician/

usually cheap thumbdrive transfer date very slow, real fake = below 1mb/s sweat.gif

you can try enable write caching https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troublesh...-caching-on-off
but this method you have to click to enable safely thumbdrive removal, the safely removal method is to tell user whether Windows is still writing or finished writing file to your ssd.

If you only read or copy content out from the ssd, safely removal is not needed.

Thanks already test it out. Product is original.
Transfer speed is slow due to small file in large volume.

Yup, many small size files will cause the transfer to be slow. Try transfer 1 file of tens GB, with USB3 10Gbps you should get around 800-900MBps

we are from different schools of thought. in terms of capacity, imo it's better to go for the max that you can afford:
1. ssds from good brands are proven to be working fine for a long time;
2. we will never make full use of nvme ssd performance if they are for home use only. you can just reuse them in new systems in the future;
3. when they are retired, you can still use them as portable storage. ssd-based portable storage is relatively safer.

i have many 240gb range of sata-based ssds, including that cheapo oem ssd from fujitsu from many years ago. they are all converted to portable storage. however, they are too small for me these days.

Also make sure the portable storage container has proper cooling features. I used one from UGREEN and it heated up PCI3.0 within minutes causing to generate IO errors.

Pretty sure they're backward compatible. it's not DDR3 vs DDR4 which both have different notch in electrical contact and operate with different voltage

wow that's bad. for enclosures, it's better to use those with metal case + thermal pad for passive cooling i think.
