QUOTE(horns @ Aug 22 2021, 02:16 PM) there are things that can cause slow performance of ssd, e.g., 4k misalignment due to cloning, bad cable, bad sata port, driver issue, bios misconfiguration, etc. Thanks for your advice. I managed to get optimal speed on another newer laptop, done diskpart clean-up and fresh Windows installation...for now, you can use adata ssd toolbox to check health status of the drive, and run as ssd benchmark to see if the 4k alignment is good. for rma of the ssd, you might wanna contact adata at fb, https://www.facebook.com/AdataMalaysia/ to get more information about the process. When free gonna retry again on the older desktop PC with fresh installation, probably could be BIOS support issue or bad cloning. It was running fine with current Kingstone A400 for 2 years already... Attached thumbnail(s) horns liked this post

QUOTE(gacktleong @ Aug 22 2021, 03:38 PM) Sss wear and tear is inevitable. My 960evo is about 22tb tbw now, I store large downloads in separate disk. Cheap ssd with tlc or. Penta level cell means lower durability. Just don't put anything important in ssd, that's all, cloud and ext hdd exists for a reason. horns liked this post

QUOTE(gacktleong @ Aug 22 2021, 03:38 PM) no. these days, they are very affordable and accessible. as long as they are from decent brands, with appropriate usage, there is no need to worry about anything.QUOTE(voscar @ Aug 22 2021, 05:58 PM) Thanks for your advice. I managed to get optimal speed on another newer laptop, done diskpart clean-up and fresh Windows installation... no problem. it's good to know that it's resolved. When free gonna retry again on the older desktop PC with fresh installation, probably could be BIOS support issue or bad cloning. It was running fine with current Kingstone A400 for 2 years already... right, i suspected that it's related to one of the common issues that caused slow performannce for ssd. QUOTE(1024kbps @ Aug 22 2021, 06:19 PM) Sss wear and tear is inevitable. right, it's really a better practice to have multiple backups for important stuff. My 960evo is about 22tb tbw now, I store large downloads in separate disk. Cheap ssd with tlc or. Penta level cell means lower durability. Just don't put anything important in ssd, that's all, cloud and ext hdd exists for a reason. tbh, the same simple approach saved me from troubles many times already. |

If you store extra copies elsewhere, then it's fine,SSD drive has limited write cycle, badly configured, dram-less, tlc, small capacity will reduce the endurance. I've seen too much people in tech support asking for data recovery. Cloud service and external hard drives are much more cheaper than data recovery, most people don't bother until thier drives cannot be accessed. horns liked this post

SSD is much more reliable than HDD but you still shouldn't store your important data in just 1 place. Should always have backup horns liked this post

I have encountered this in the past where I had BSOD on my plextor SSD (made in 2013) and upon reboot, some system files were permanently missing and this was one of the downside of SSD's back then. Are they still the same to this day with modern SSD's?SSD drive has limited write cycle, badly configured, dram-less, tlc, small capacity will reduce the endurance. For the sake of stability, only use the connector directly from psu, and a good psu is important too. |
