First and foremost,
This is not a PAID review but a personal one. No one paid me for this neither 'encouraged' me to do so.
I bought a new set of 235/45/18s on early November 2020. For the past 1 month plus or about 1k kms, I found that these tyres are actually not bad. Despite negative feedback or perception on China made tyres, I can say that these tyres are really good value for money whilst don't sacrifice on comfort and performance.
I'm not an aggressive driver. I'm just a daily average driver who drives according to the speed limit. So far this year, I've changed to 4 sets of tyres (all brand new and of the same size). These are :-
1. Hankook V12evo2
2. Bridgestone T005A
3. Altenzo Sports Comforter 2
4. Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance
Therefore, I'm writing my findings over these 4 sets.
I've used Hankook V12evo2 before in my previous ride and I was seriously impressed by it. Performance + comfort with a relatively low price. Hence, when I purchased my new car, I changed the tyres to Hankook V12evo2. Somehow, this time it was quite different. In the sense that the grip and comfort is still there but the tyre roar is pretty prominent. I used these tyres for about 3 months before I changed to the Bridgestone T005A.
As for the Bridgestone T005A, firstly it's a comfort tyre which is a different league as the V12E2. Therefore, it emphasis on the ride quality instead of the grip. Nevertheless, the grip is still pretty good for a touring tyre. The NVH is probably the best here. Tyre roar is at it's minimum. However, the comfort in terms of ride is a little on the firm side (yeah, I know.. FIRM on a touring tyre?). Well, as I said, this is my personal feedback and personal view. Used it perhaps for 4 months before I change it to Altenzo SC2.
Now for the Altenzo SC2. First impression, it was a little noisier than the Bridgestone which I was well prepared. However, on some road conditions, it was even quieter than the Bridgestone! It followed (or copied) the Pirelli's P Zero design to perhaps 80-90%? Anyway, I must say that I'm pretty impressed by these China made but engineered in Australia by PDW tyres. Much like the Contis business plan I guess. Grip was good for a UHP tyre. Comfort is also there and noise level is pretty acceptable. Used these tyres for 1 month plus and change to my current set which is the GY EfficientGrip Perf.
Now, these GY Perf is somewhat a combination of touring and UHP tyre (more towards touring). However, my first impression by these tyres are not up to my expectation. Being a more touring tyre, I would have thought that noise level would be about the same as the bridgestone but it's not! It's sometime even noisier than the Altenzo UHP (on certain roads)! However, ride quality is perhaps a tad bit better than the Altenzo. Steering response is also a tad bit better than the Altenzos. Anyway, I just installed these last month and I'm still trying it around.
So in conclusion, let me give a little personal point system on these 4 tyres.
