in the overall earning from grab - out all commission and some services, insurance and other misc for the car maintenance, a total of 50-60% of the earning use for spending

my advice those who join before 2018 will be earning more than current.

why i leaving this platform mainly due to regulation + current uncertainty situation, i do not plan to continue anymore and i am doing a new job as life planner. you can PM me for further detail.

for those who are newly join, i can only say wish you all the best in grab, all this are depending on luck, as currently i am seeing is supply over demand, previously is demand over supply.

i would mainly comment on penang earning, take note that this is not include other state

earning per hour comparing, before MCO you would earn about 25 per hour, currently with MCO - RMCO only 10 per hour. and you need to maintain you car service and etc.

i do grabbing to pass some time since mid 2019. 2019 end already slowing a lot....many new drivers too emerged.

Stopped during MCO and started grabbing during rmco but feel wasting time . (NOW stopped for a month due to many covid cases in penang.)

Hardly can make money, its just enough to cover expenses/maintenance and food. Even tried driving more hours but more bangau than driving. Even with longer hours, the extra $$$ will incur higher cost like petrol n extra food tongue.gif . I really wonder how do full time driver survive? and with the current situation, more n more new drivers joining the platform to earn extra income/lost current job and so on. The supply of drivers are way over the demand (More 1 riders to 50 driver?) BTW this is penang..... i know kl is much better.....

the grab commission itself is already 20%. The fare drivers get after deducting the commission is very low. Car maintenance for grab due to high mileage need a lot of $$$ - car wash, engine maintenance, tyres, I dont eat bread but stop at various locations during sending passengers and stop for meals. Could be cheap or expensive food. Food itself averages btween rm25-40/day

The other way to "make money" is to delay service, use cheap engine oil, wash car yourself, use 2nd hand cheap potentially unsafe tyres. Drivers should band together and demanded higher fare. Not lower commission to grab but higher fare.

Higher fair might not work in penang island. Rider will.feel.expensive n look for alternatives. GRAB is also not bothered bcse so many driver n new drivers joining in.
