I am currently stucked in kampung and do not have broadband to use here. So I have used my old iphone 7 to wifi tethering to my laptop for the past 1 month. And doing so really kills its battery, now its health only below 60%

Now I bought a new phone. So I do not plan to torture my new phone in the same way. So I thought I can pay extra rm 15 per month for maxis multi sim. The main sim for my new phone (phone call etc), and the 2nd sim for my old phone. And using my iphone as the usual wifi hotspot to use my laptop.

Unfortunately, my plan wont work, as maxis told me the 2nd sim do not allow wifi tethering.

So I have been researching to see if there is any other workaround. If I bought a usb 4g dongle (such as DLINK DWM-222) and connect directly to my laptop through usb, does that also mean tethering too? Is it allowed?

Any advice or tips to make this work?

Perhasp maxis restrict usage of their sim to handphone only, won't work in usb modem. Try check with them

generally it depends on the t&c of each data plan instead of the isp
