it's futile to fight against the scalper bots on those online shops

pretty sure most of the orders went to the scalpers

I'm gonna wait until stock normalised in March, hopefully

PSA:

Sony online store is doing a one day sales today only

last I've check they have the 55 X90H tv in stock, you can use the code sony15 for additional 15% discount to RM3,654.15, free shipping as well

IINM So far this is the cheapest TV that supports 4k/120 for PS5

Seems the PS5 stocks are starting to get normalised, many smaller game shops that I know that weren't allocated any units during the first few batches are now allocated few units each, meaning Sony they have more stocks now to distribute to smaller game shops rather than their official or bigger game stores.

But being still rare it is, some of those game shops actually using forced bundle tactics to sell them at retail price, like you'll have to buy extra controller and the basically useless remote control

So those wanting to get one? have some patient and wait for few more weeks the most I think, it will be yours very soon
can't wait to see all those scalpers scrambling to slash their price by then laugh.gif

Seems most of the PS5 sets are the disk version, hardly see any digital only version around
Anyone managed to grab the digital only version recently?

I want the digital only version, as I haven't bought any disk since ages ago, the very last disc I bought is Dark Soul 3 in 2016

And it's few hundred cheaper too compared to the disk version

https://www.spieltimes.com/news/buying-a-ps...-crypto-mining/

In November, when Sony released the PS5, the console immediately became the most wanted consumer product throughout the world. Three months later, thousands of people are still on the lookout to secure the console due to stock shortage, low production, and scalping. With the PS5 being adapted for mining recently, the problem of scalping will only increase.

According to the website, Gadget Tendency (via ResetEra), enthusiasts from China were successfully able to mine cryptocurrency using the PS5. Although the console isn’t suitable for mining, they have found a workaround for it.

Following this discovery, many crypto enthusiasts might start buying PS5s and put them to crypto mining. This could mean a further shortage of consoles and common people might face an even harder time trying to secure the PS5.

PS5s are already unavailable across all retailers with drops lasting less than 5-10 minutes. And drop timings are mostly unknown unless you’re following tracker accounts on Twitter. If crypto miners start using PS5s, the console might not be readily available until 2022.

If you’re looking for PS5 drops, and stock-related updates, follow us on Twitter @ spieltimes.

A photo was shared on the Chinese social media platform Weibo showing the successful mining of Ethereum (a type of cryptocurrency). The mining performance of the console reached 98.76 MH/s (MH/s = million hashes per second). The power consumption was 211 W.

Here, take a look –

Compared to that, an RTX 3090 delivers up to 122 MH/s. While an RTX 3080 performs at 86.16 MH/s.

Gadget Tendency says the console was hacked and most probably overclocked since it exceeded its native performance of 50 MH/s.

Not just the PS5, but the person was able to mine Etherum with an M1 chip MacBook Air as well.

Worry not, it's a hoax, there's no way PS5 or any current gen consoles can be hack to mine crypto-currency laugh.gif

on other consoles like Nintendo & Xbox as well

just beware if you're buying some 2nd hand console cheaply off someone

Guys, I have some questions... noob ones as I'm fresh to this...

For digital version, I understand all games need to be downloaded and stored in the SSD.
But do we need to stay online to play games?

For disc version, do we need to save the games to the SSD as well???
Or we directly play with the disc inside the console?
*
1, no need to stay online except for some online only games

2, yes, the games still need to install into the SSD, and the disc in the drive in order to play the game

Thanks...

So both version will occupy same amount of space in the SSD?
*
yup, the only advantages of the disc version is there's a 2nd hand market for the game disc, and can be use as a 4k bluray player

A question for fellow forumers. I'm having issue outputting PS5 through my AV receiver. When I turn on the PS5, I am able to hear to console interface sound but display signal is not detected. My solution now is plugging the PS5 straight into the TV HDMI and the ARC somehow relays the audio to the AVR. Just wondering why the PS5 doesn't work with the AVR.  I'm using Denon AVR-X250BT with Sony X7000F TV. I never had this problem with the PS4 PRO
*
you're using the original PS5 HDMI cable?

also try to play around with the display settings in your PS5

but the most likely reason is your receiver doesn't support HDMI 2.1 passthrough

Interesting Rumor going around: Kojima Productions in talks with Phil Spencer to develop game exclusive to Gamepass / Xbox.

Kojima not developing for Playstation since MGS1 sounds like end of an era.

judging on there's a Nintendo Switch there, Mario & Zelda series are coming to gamepass / xbox too laugh.gif

Well, IMO Sony indeed has gone cocky from their recent last gen win
the Sony vs MS now it's similar like Intel vs AMD

Sony is getting too comfy and MS is gaining more grounds this gen

also this is the reason why I'm going for XsX this gen as my main, and PS5 as my secondary where PS was always my main in the past

Rumors that Sony going to launch something to counter Xbox Gamepass soon? but what can I see might be just a rebrand of their existing crappy PS Now service.

That was last year model, they are clearing existing stocks now, once sold out you'll have to wait for the new model

2021 X90J incoming soon

I doubt first batch of 55X90J you'll get the current price of RM3K+
