a quick update.
sent in my console to Sony SC at Lalaport BBCC.

the process flow is basically just walk, no appointment needed.
1. Bring your console and proof of purchase - identification as MY local set
2. Scan their whatsapp QR to send in the Proof of Purchase softcopy
3. They will check your warranty status
4. Fill in the basic details info
5. They will share you the slip above as record of console hand-over
6. Wait for SMS/whatsapp update from them once the console is ready for collection
SC said it would take 7 working days for the repair. According to them, the common repair is either the following:
1. Themal paste leakage/melting
2. Mobo
Lets see how it goes after a week.
Shall update again in due course.
An update about my RMA process here.
Received SMS from Sony Lalaport on 05 Jan 2025:
"Hi, this is Sony Store BBCC service collection counter at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport. Your item under the job number JC0063xxx is now ready for collection. Thank you. Collection counter is open from 11am to 9pm."
Went to collect the unit on the same day.
Here's the repair cert details; whereby it mentioned about MoBo change; instead of just thermal paste re-application:

The unit is nicely bubble wrap upon receiving over the counter:

I saw that there is another unit in their store which is also bubble wrapped like mine, when the staff is retrieving my unit from the store room. Guess this overheating issue is really common.
Last night setup the unit and tried Diablo IV and AstroBot demo for more than an hour. No sign of overheating or execessive fan noise like before. Guess that the issue is rectified.
Due to change of mobo, I need to setup and login my unit as per new user setup; and redownload all my content and apps.
All in all, the process really took 7 days only:
29 Dec 2024 sent in, 05 Jan 2025 collection.
Generally the process is fuss free, to get the things done but the staff at Sony Lalaport could be friendlier. They're like robot during my visit in both submission and collection process. Not complaining, just sharing. At least the jobs are being done in timely manner.
Hopefully no more issue after this.
Hope the above sharing helps for future reference.
