Actually i also placed like that, i putting my PS5 phat behind my LG OLED TV (which i guess the heat from TV will pass behind also)

But so far have no issue and i always horizontal placement since day 1 (bought Feb 2023)
*
ok, lets try horizontal position; if the space allows it

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Dec 5 2024, 09:04 AM)
i see, that place is really cramped from what i can see. try to move out of the position and play it as u normally do, if ok then means is ventilation problem, if still persist then can bring back to sony. it is diff from the guy above TongCN who put behind TV but in horizontal position, if can put horizontal means there must be some clearance behind.
*
yeap, lets try horizontal setup and monitor further

thanks guys for the kind sharing, really appreciate it.

I had overheating prompt when playing BMW on different occasion. I was in Chapter 2 and/or Chapter 3 when that happened. After placing it horizontally, even after completed BMW twice, never once overheating again. rclxm9.gif Anyway, give it a try. Gravity as they say, is a killer. laugh.gif

QUOTE(RoxyMunky @ Dec 5 2024, 07:33 AM)
hmm... same thing here that I did remove the panels and try to check for dust but it is pretty much clean.

maybe I try to put it horizontally, but my current desk setup not optimized for that.

never had any issue with my phat PS4.
bought it home in end May 2024.

yea, maybe try to place it horizontally and give it a try; since you're the second person quoted this.

Yup, I ran vertical for my OG PS5 for a year plus then transitioned to horizontal. Now with the Pro, horizontal all the way

If you’ve have been using it vertically without issues, I won’t be too bothered.

I’ve been running my OG PS5 vertically for nearly 4 years with over 1000 hours invested. No issues at all.

Sony themselves will never admit that placing it horizontally will be better.
All their marketing material shows it being used vertically. It’ll be a PR nightmare if they admit.

If you have the space and do not mind placing it horizontally, there is certainly no harm trying.

Currently my PS5 is vertically wall mounted in my bedroom.
And PS5 pro sits vertically on my tv console. I do not switch on AC most of the time. The key thing is really just well ventilation and keeping the system clean.
Unless of course you’re really unlucky and the seal containing the Liquid Metal broke.

hmm... maybe i try to create space for horizontal placement and monitor further

or try to find way to improve the ventilation around the PS5.

any idea what's the current market price for 2nd hand or the trade-in value by shop?

Unfortunately not much space available to put it horizontally. Hence now i swap the rear facing vent towards monitor side, and front is facing the window for better ventilation.

Also, i raised the console position as well so that it has more pace for ventilation.

My daughter plays the Astrobot playroom. Just now 30mins in and the console force shut down itself again with after above position adjustments.

Yesterday played diablo 4 for 2 hours straight without aircond in the afternoon also no issue, but can hear the fan running louder only.

Seems like it is the game itself got issue which also stated by others here:

2nd hand market depends how much you wanna sell... RM1900 - RM1500 + - depends on whether have warranty or how desperate are you to release it. of course the cheaper the faster you can sell. above RM1700 have hard time to sell. sweat.gif

for shop trade in value... you have to ask individual shop

last time someone shared that its pointless to install "cooling system". if you were to blow air into it, the hot air will have trapped inside together with the air blow in instead of being flow out.

the best is to keep a good air ventilation would be sufficient.

I agree with cycheah. Just ensure there's good ventilation (be it ceiling fan or air-cond room) and you are good to go. Periodically clean the vents/fan is another good measure to prolong longevity of your console system.

hmm, sounds like this is the better and optimal way.

i've swapped my PS rear facing to the open area instead of the wall; which is now much more airy and room for the air to circulate

the small fan will only turn it on when needed, if i feel the hot air
user posted image

on the other hand, I've also raised the console position for a better air circulation:

Last time when i played games on my PC and PS5, i use a small USB fan and blow it on the case. Managed to keep everything quite cool too. Don't block the ventilation vents, and don't direct the fan into the vents.

HAHA!
