Hope lhdn will invite him for some coffee and only him can explain whether got all those cars or not. Then slowly all competition organisers started to scare don't simply scam ppl for contest by just hiring ppl to show face getting the prize paperboard...

PBB has since changed the Gov spending campaign to top 10th, 15th and 20th after what happen to Soh families and hopefully more organisers can get rid of this type of "top spenders" sapu all the prizes from genuine spenders...

trollllolol

well i agree this is skill not luck...some ppl dedicated to all these contest..

heck i got friend used to be very active joining quiz in radio station and he won multiple prizes...no biggie

every1 can do it..just that are u willing to sacrifice your time/money/effort

in msia generally ppl are lazy to join all these contest...hence if u are the 5% hardworking contestant...wining probability is high
*
do you believe him "spending" RM100k at umobile and refund back?
he should return back all the winning prizes as well if wash like that without real spending

Instead of just targetting Lau Li Kung, this tered should list out all the other frequent winners or professional contesters cos it seems like not just Lau alone doing this. I don't think they win cause of same event management company, takkan the company so noob keep using same winner name
*
yeah they might be quite noob so that less ppl will know and take the share
but now with the power of google, this type of syndicate very easily expose if they keep helping them to promote fake competition

Name of the 'Soh'?

i no need to disclose his full name as he is one of those pbb kaki, since pbb changed the winning way, there's no point to drag out all his family members out, including some young kids which are still study in school

Winnings no need pay tax right by right? However I do heard there's a provision in tax law that if LHDN can see you're making a living by winning contest, the prizes will be considered a taxable income.
*
lhdn sure will question where are those prizes, selling for cash?
did you declare?
how come still bpn etc?
if no prizes given, why are you doing so?
pls give me those company hire u for these so that we can invite them for another coffee session

later MACC also involve lol

what if u use it for a while.. like drive a car for 1km then sell it.. its not new anymore so still taxable? if he can find loop hole to game the system then surely gaming the tax system is easy for him right
*
if u low profile sure no need declare, but if you are earning this as income, it is income

The prize already taxed by LHDN before it giving out like prize.

Where is the terms not resellable?

I read from old thread here.

it's like buying house, tax after u buy from previous seller, when u sell still taxable

here got 2 situations:

1. if he is selling off prizes and involve a lot of money, he will kena
2. if all the cars are not real, then those organisers kena

I would submit an enquiry to LHDN regarding prize winning of mr lau, and hopefully they will reply soon
*
positive income = need to declare
if u are buying RM100k car and sold at RM90k then no need declare
if u are using free prizes, then no need as well
if u are selling free prizes, then yes, u need to unless they didn't find out

I've seen many contest that offers cars and even house as the grand prize and ppl actually won it. My question is do they need to pay tax on the prize?

Say a person win a car worth rm100k, does the person get taxed according to the value of the car?

How about if the person sold off the car and take the money, will it be taxed?
*
Income Tax taxes on income.

To qualify as income the receivables must satisfy two conditions: It must be a periodic/regular, it must come in from a defined source.

Your above scenario of receivables does not satisfy the first condition, hence it is not defined as income.

Not taxable.

No tax

You buy antique car, 100k

10 years later sale 300k
Profit is taxable
*
yes, like what i said before, profitable sales taxable

selling free prizes is taxable
